And they suck within their appropriate Rank so they at least don’t cause problems for matchmaking because they usually play a 3500 SR Widow, but fill as a 2300 SR Reinhardt, but the matchmaker matched them based on their 3500 SR.
Are you by any chance playing in a low pop region or on console?
I never had that happen on PC in hundreds of games.
I always picked what the team needed back in Open Q.
90% of the time this meant that I played (Main) Tank - and that is also how I ended up becoming a Tank Main
True “flexing” in Open Q is more or less an urban myth considering how rare it was for the flex player to be able to switch from Tank without ending up with a much worse team comp.
According to official Blizzard numbers Koreans also play more Role Q than Open Q.
Also it is a rather bold (and kind of racist) claim to make, that Koreans are more intelligent than Americans
I have been seeing this argument a lot but I think that people don’t realize that the culture of the playerbases are vastly different. If Koreans played with OQ players from EU and NA they’d hate it too. There are a lot of dribble players who oversimplify the game into being countering x = win and sacrifice team comp and synergy for it and unfortunately those dribble players were the majority of people who think they were great flex players, basically the people you think are high IQ.
Koreans fundamentally play to win and are willing to be selfless to do so and understand how to play a teambased game, EU/NA players who are individualistic and demand other people sacrifice for them because they are the true carry in their mind.
Which is the result of a higher cultural and social acceptance and acknowledgement of e-sports and professional gaming and not the result of a higher average IQ.
Most western countries are unfortunately a bit underdeveloped in this specific area.
The fact that I almost always get Open Q games with players in the tank and support Role would suggest that players from my region are perfectly willing to play to help their team.
I think it might also come down to laziness. Maybe Koreans are less lazy so they are happy to form a group if they wish to play within a desired team composition. This is a common sense solution and every region has access to this tool.
