Why is no one talking about all the people throwing on dps?

I don’t mean people just being bad either, i mean like straight up hard throwing that seemingly goes unpunished?

There are literal discords out there for coordinating throws. Rank reset and balance changes also did a number on the quality of lobbies and how the average OW player performs.

Can confirm. Most will insta-lock: Juno, Zenyatta, or Ana. Or if tanking? Doomfist or Junkerqueen, and just run at the enemy refusing to shoot. If they’re on support, they will outright ignore healing and spam emotes. Had this happened in multiple diamond games, until I decided to uninstall.

just an update. im in diamond for the first time in literal years thanks you stuff like this. D2KDD9
I wont name names but one of the tanks was throwing. can you guess who?

I can’t help but wonder if a Lucio or even Juno would’ve helped. Your Rein wanted to play rush and I didn’t see the point of your other support’s Illari pick.

At least a Lifeweaver to yank back the Rein every other fight.

help a rein that uses shift on cd? it wouldnt help as much as you think. it would help him feed and spawn faster but there is no saving them.

illari was a questionable pick but if its ok for the rein to one trick then surely we cant be having double standards.

why though? what benefit did he bring while alive? you could argue that he made space but making space and holding space are very different things and one is practically pointless without the other

It’s probably the only way to get value out of him. He’s too slow to do anything in 2024 overwatch.

You’re team needs to be all in on helping him, or he’s going to be a problem for you not them.

no it is it absolutely not.

have you watched the replay? there is no amount of support that makes him a valuable team member

I’ve not. I’m no where near my pc to do that.

Then the only option is to either shield bot, or slowly walk about and wonder why the enemy just moves away from you.

(Give Rein more walking speed, but the same speed boost cap he has now, so he can actually close gaps)

id recommend it when you get a chance, see if you still feel the same way

or be adaptable, take and hold space, go agro when there is an opportunity to do so. dont just spam charge into 5. you know, like a normal person?

If the rein goes in, and you just watch him die… He’s not totally at fault.

It might of been a poor decision. But so is just watching him die.

He’s leading you into battle. Die with your captain!

what about when he charges through a sig shield, into a junk trap or ana sleep consistently without ever actually landing a pin?

my man shattered and did a double firestrike while nanod to kill a squishy on the floor at their feet. investing anything into him would have been a waste. the dude had a singular braincell.

as apposed to feeding enemy ults by keeping him alive? idk about that one man.

no.

What about the DPS behind him that miss shots. Happens

You’re probably right, but:

  • Suboptimal tank play has more throw potential than suboptimal support play.
  • With both the rank reset and the inherent rarity of tanks, the entire team needs to nullify the effectiveness of the other tank; or help your own (or both).

You have to play the averages, play out of your mind and sweet talk your team for those uphill battles, and it’s demoralizing. I get it.

I agree but there is a difference between suboptimal and being bad.

the rank reset was purely visual.
as for enabling the tank, I would agree most of the time. there is no amount of support that would turn this match around though.
if it was in a coordinated setting, the other 4 could have probably added enough follow up value to at least make it a viable match but on ladder? my man doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near the rank they were in,

I think Rein would be more utilized if Blizzard introduced more maps with a tendency to be closed quarters, things like ‘Control center’ from ‘Lijang tower’ (I hope I spelled it correctly)

Sadly, this is the every-game experience in the mid-ranks and has been for 8 years.

So what do you blame here? Boosting? Bad match making? I don’t think he was deliberately throwing, and your Illari didn’t even try.

I watched your Illari’s point of view and they had aim, but they were a poorer support than the enemy Illari:

  • 1:48 : Why put the turret where it’s going to be useless, in the next 2-3 seconds?
  • 1:56 : Turret off cooldown (ready)
  • 2:01 : Rein goes for a charge kill on Sigma, but whiffs.
  • 2:02 : Illari rethrows such a far-back turret spot. Compare that to the enemy Illari’s turret placement. I suppose your team’s turret was for supports, but this has some consequences.
  • 3:24 : They finally get their ult (holy hell).

I also looked at your Genji and I only want to focus on one poor execution:

  • 2:06 : Genji whiffed a free kill on Junkrat. This had major consequences for the rest of the attack round. If Genji killed junkrat, then Rein would’ve survived long enough for your team to cap.

For sure it’s an uphill battle, but it’s not just the tank playing badly here though I agree he was the worst.

probably a dps player. I dont think them being better would have changed the outcome though.

do you want me to go through and time stamp every time the rein charged and fed?

happens. people make mistakes. thats not the same as being an active disadvantage like rein.
like, I didnt play particularly well either but I definitely was not bad enough to be in the same rank as that rein.

to be fair, after like the 3rd or 4th time the rein played like a bot, we kinda gave up.

either way, I keep losing so at a certain point, my skills as a (now former) gm player should be enough to carry a game or two, but im half way through d3 now so its looking like its a plat season for me

i play dps for aim train until 6v6. counterswap has no reflection of skill and i dont take part in it. too many easy mode newgen heros for newgen players who cant and never will learn how to play their role correctly. instead of keeping them in silver blizzard changed the game until they could hit plat/diamond
