Literally all I get during these times, from like 8pm to 8am is:
The most toxic people. More toxicity during these times than any others. Not just an increase in “EZ” and “diff”, but racism, sexism, telling people to off themselves, general trolling, throwing, rage at teammates, insults, you name it.
It all comes out during these times.
Worse match quality. Just horribly balanced matches, more so than usual. Being locked in spawn while fighting against a full team of diamond+ is much more common during these times.
Super long queue times, for all modes. Up to 10 minute waits for No Limits or anything in Arcade.
It’s just an all around terrible experience, no matter the mode. Every time I try and play some Overwatch before bed I go to bed feeling like crap.
I'll describe the typical match I get. This is a real match that just happened to me and is the general experience I have during these times:
No Limits. Won a match on King’s Row. Next match is Rialto, attack.
A couple people from the previous match are on the enemy team.
I pick Pharah and go off to the side after noticing there’s a Widow. I fly around and get her unaware and kill her, then kill a Hanzo.
Both these players swap to Sombra.
One of them, angry that I killed them, decides to only kill me, and I mean only kill me. They chase me around in stealth and only come out of stealth to open fire on me.
I get killed by them numerous times.
They also wait near spawn in stealth to kill me as I come out two times, not attacking anyone else that comes out of spawn. If I wait in spawn for a while, they wait outside for me, even when my teammates walk by them. They type "lol’ when killing me one of the times.
I swap at one point to Hanzo to use scan arrow for detecting the Sombras.
This does nothing. The one Sombra still hides near spawn and stealth kills me. They then type “lol” in chat again.
I swap to Sombra. This also does nothing. They run around where they think I am in stealth, and when I leave stealth they also do and open fire on me and kill me.
We lose the match, a hard stomp against us. We would have lost even without that Sombra basically locking me in spawn.
The Sombra that trolled me, of course, goes “ez” and “how was spawn?” to me.
I say “i still feel like I win because i made sombra that mad at me”.
One of my teammates says “kobol salty lol”
Sombra says “you mad it’s so funny LOL”.
This is the typical night time to morning experience for me in pacific standard time.
What I want to know is, what timezone has my night as their day time, and why are they such retched people?
You were outplayed, and now you’re mad, but it’s the opposing team is the villain for you being outplayed? In no limits which is an inherently wildly unbalanced casual game mode. If it was comp or even role queue QP it could be the time you played at, but no limits is going to have unpredictable, unbalanced, and broken gameplay, this is expected.
At this point it’s not the time that you played at, it’s entirely the context of the situation you queued up for.
This was one example of the kind of experience I usually get during these times, which is: Much more toxic people, trolling and unbalanced matches.
Doesn’t matter what mode I play in during these times, it’s the same thing. If this player was in QP they’d be doing it there.
I wouldn’t call LITERALLY ONLY attacking one player on the enemy team because you’re mad they killed you “outplaying” them.
It’s the same in other regions too. Attempted playing from 8pm to 10pm the other day in EU.
EVERY. SINGLE. GAME Had one or more of the following:
Someone telling people to off themselves.
People playing on an account specifically created to troll ( supports called ‘NohealzforyouLOL’ or a dude called ‘AFK’ who kept walking to obscure far off parts of the map to not participate).
Playing while high.
Playing like they had never played a video game in their life before.
People who spend more time rage typing about hero picks than playing the game.
Unprompted slurs.
Just a truly awful experience, and I came off wondering why TF I just wasted 2 hours of my life when I would have enjoyed doing pretty much anything else on a rare evening to myself.
Edit for clarity: This was playing exclusively comp. I dread to think what sort of dumpster fire the other modes were at that time.
1pm to 7pm seem to be the best times for me to play. The later past 7pm it gets, it just gets worse and worse. It’s currently 5am for me and all the matches are so bad.
I messed up my sleep schedule.
Update: Another match. QP. Shambali Monastery. Attack.
Enemy Hog decided to only hook me. Literally. I was the only one that got hooked to my knowledge.
At one point he just sat in one area (the building to the left near the payload) and came out to hook and kill me, over and over again. I pinged the area but my team did not care or do anything about it.
I was literally unable to move past this point.
He did not come out to hook anyone else, only me.
At the end of the match I type “that stunk” to which he replies “LUL” and “EZ EZ”
If that player happens to present a threat to the enemy team, and that player happens to swap to a hero that counters your own, or setting up in a position that removes players from the board in a ‘legal’ manner so the team isn’t operating at full strength yeah I’d call that being outplayed my guy.
This is coming from a Pharah main, who’s frequently seen the entire enemy team swap to hitscan just to counter me.
I started as Pharah, swapped to Hanzo, then went to Sombra, didn’t matter who I was, they ONLY attacked me, LITERALLY.

Actually all I see you do is be contrarian. In fact I don’t think I have ever seen you agree with a single thing anyone has said.
The camper also removes themselves from play, essentially levelling the playing field and giving no advantage most times in a situation where they have taken a personal dislike to another player, because they go so hard on the camp and don’t return to participate in the teamfight.
Go Torb next time if a teammate won’t help you out. Either the turret shoots them when they decloak to shoot/hack you, or you shoot them while they try and shoot/hack the turret. It can be kinda funny.
There’s nothing in the game that specifically states that you can’t or prevents a player from spawn camping or focusing on a single player.

True, that brings up another point in that was Doggo the only one dying? If the spawn camper was keeping OP at spawn, were they also effectively countering other respawning players? Was there any effort to team up on the spawn camper?
Most of the toxic people play at these hours and there are no civil players at the proper time to play against or with.
I got try-hards after 1am last night and all they did was act bad. Im going to assume that poor quality abusive people just occupy these slots and for the sake of time contstraints they have to give us a match regardless.
People who are well-adjusted and have lives to lead tend to go to bed at reasonable hours. The players who are wildly toxic are typically either minors or NEETs, neither of which tend to be emotionally mature or have responsibilities to attend to. They stay up all night playing OW because they don’t have anything important to wake up for in the morning and haven’t quite learned how to treat others yet.
That doesn’t account for everyone of course, but the concentration of toxic players skyrockets in the late/early hours because the bulk of the non-toxic playerbase logs off by then. If you take a step back and look at the bigger picture, you’ll probably realize that these players aren’t worth getting tilted over. If they get toxic all you can really do is pity them.
Allow me to rephrase that. Last night I had one of the worst matches since I started playing OW2. I no longer have the replay since OW did an update. Toxic players taunting with voice lines after getting a kill on you, things like "I thank you, “thanks” even if you nearly killed them in the process. One match I had a Mei player tb me.
OW is one of my favorite games, but last night had me legit questioning whether or not I want to play it anymore.
