I never use voice chat in ow (because I am nervous) and when I decided I wanted to today, it wouldn’t let me unmute my mic. I really don’t know why I’m muted or how long it will last. I checked my email and I had no emails from Blizzard saying that my account was muted. Maybe I was toxic before and don’t remember. But considering I don’t even remember it, it really shouldn’t have been something that got my account muted for so long. I haven’t been on this account for a while, so this account must have been muted for a long time. Please help

Muted could also mean you can’t type chat, meaning people reported you for being toxic.

What console are you on? If you are on XBOX or Playstation, then it may be a temporary or permanant ban from voice chat issued by Microsoft or Sony. If it’s PC, then there may be a problem with your settings.
Are you sure your mic is connected? That icon also shows when it is disabled.
I can still type in chat
These are my sound settings. Idk if anything is wrong with it.

Dude. we need info.
Are you on PC? Are you at a university or another place? Is your NAT type strict?
We gotta know.
Yea I’m pc at home. I have a second account (My main account. Which I also rarely use my mic on as well) and that account is fine and isn’t muted or anything.
Submit a ticket about this.
Seems like a bug or something.
When you click to join chat, does it say that there are people? Can you hear others?
On this account, it doesn’t say there are other players. So that’s also why I assumed I was muted.
That could be a bug. I’ve experienced the game not letting me unmute myself before, too. It’s been awhile back, and I can’t remember exactly how I fixed it, but I think I just logged off and unplugged / plugged in my mic.
I know I had a really crappy headset at the time with a crap mic, so it could be related to your hardware not functioning properly.
Edit: Also make sure your mic isn’t muted via a button or something on it. Made that mistake before, too. XP
I think it might be a bug.
If you join a voice chat lobby and it says 0 are in there when your allies are clearly talking or they say they are, it’s probably a network issue. It happens at university because they block P2P connections (OW main connection for voice coms).
Is your mic set as the default communication device in Windows settings?
Thanks for the help!!! Tbh idek what the issue was, but it randomly decided to start working again.
One possible fix - On Xbox - Make sure you are not in a party of one. This will mute you
