Why is Jeff not looking for a new job

Was checking Jeff’s LinkedIn no activity just says worked at Blizzard for 19 yrs.

Has he quit game development totally, is he retiring at 50 itself.

It’s been almost a year was hoping to see what he does next maybe band with some Devs and make a new hero shooter or something.

I think this kind of job can be very stressfull and he already was able to retire, so he chose the best option possible

Maybe he is sort of traumatised because of how things ended at Blizzard. A bit like Cliffy…

Cliffy is not working on games anymore either, right?

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s just laying low for a while. I would given the shenanigans that were going on at Blizzard before he left. I wouldn’t want to work for any other major game companies either. I’m sure that type of stuff happens way more often than we know

Why exactly are we stalking Jeff now?

I was just hoping he would develop some new game or passion project we can root for.

Dude just ghosted us all suddenly no Twitter reddit insta.

Maybe he’s waiting for the Microsoft merger to complete, and get rid of Kotick, before coming back to Blizzard.

Because we are nostalgic for the Jeff thing were he sits in front of the fireplace talking about overwatch thingy.

Gotta feel sorry for the guy.

Lead dev on WoW for a decade, gets shufftied off to develop Blizzard’s new top tier futuristic MMO, Project Titan.

Titan gets scrapped and the remnants turned into a FPS that Jeff now has to regrettably manage, when he wanted to develop an MMO.

Poor chap, I’d be livid myself and would have left earlier, but he at least had some direction for the game, even if the balancing was whack as usual for Blizzard.

They really have no idea about balancing, they don’t play their own games and playtesting seems to be a myth. Just look at Warcraft 3 Original and the number of balance patches in that one games lifetime. Patch after patch after patch to try to balance the damn game. And that’s an RTS will relatively simple balance (compared to an FPS).

I liked Jeff as a person and a face for the developer updates, but I think his time as game director is overrated. OW1 did a lot of things right and a lot of things wrong. The whole marketing and release strategy of OW2 was done on his watch. Not so much the monetization as just the whole idea of putting out a “sequel” which I think was a bad plan.

He would be nice to have atleast for blizzard side of things for microsoft even if he doesn’t lead team4 again.

He will probably tc of most these monetization issues and development goals.

Tbh, he doesn’t even need to have a big development role. Just seeing him in dev update videos every once in a while would be nice.

Maybe have Aaron or Alec do the Yule Log thing, and have Jeff drop by for a cameo.

Upper management types are very picky about their positions. They can often go a long time between gigs.

Our dear Cliffy was an early Oculus Rift investor and that granted him a huge amount of money. I don’t think we’re hearing from him anytime soon.
