A C9 has intent. Being CCed away from the payload is not a C9, but being back capped by a Sombra because everyone left the point is.
They did it twice lmao
3 times? I didnât watch that match, but I just heard about it afterwards.
LOL no wonder why they assumed the moniker C9.
Fool me once⌠Fool me Thrice? Forever humiliating Legacy
Here s also a good summary of the overall concept of C9.
In Pro Play, here are the two most egregious Charlie Niners I know ofâŚ
I convinced the 2 other people who stayed behind on point A on Volskaya in overtime to step off with me right before we capped to end the game. Saved us from playing another several minutes on that crappy map, just to likely lose anyway.
Canât count that as throwing, since all 6 players had to be off the point for us to lose.
That was a backcap, not a C9.
Yup
And the memes will live on XD
I wonder how much SR the map got for winning.
Yeah, I was thinking that later on after posting. lol
I just remember the team spamming c9 afterwardsâŚ
Yeah, the enemy team dies in a grav dragon (team kill) and your team takes the point. Someone in your team writes âlol c9â
Isnât a back cap a C9 by definition? You should never be so focused on getting exit kills that someone is able to ride the cart into the checkpoint.
Kinda. Both are dependent on one team ignoring the point, but a backcap is on the defender side fault, while a C9 is on the attacker side fault.
Had a match where we were on defense on anubis, they were capping the first point, they had it at basically 99% and then the last person got off it I guess and just started running towards point B. needless to say, they C9âd.
old pro team called cloud 9 got off point.
to be clear the enemy team didnt team wipe them, and they didnt trickle in.
most people dont understand the difference, though it has turned into a veritable catch all term for not being on point.
Wasnât it three times during the match?
Iâve lost track of how many times Iâve had to say âItâs not a c9 if you kill everyoneâŚâ
Kind of sucks for Cloud 9, it only got named after them because they were first. Seoul Dynasty was infamous for doing it.
Itâs mostly misused today. If your team was contesting for point and got knocked/forced off, people call it a C9. But the original C9 was focusing so much on winning the teamfight/maintaining high ground that it cost them the round.
Cloud 9 was the attacker in the legendary match, so I agree.
By definition, a C9 is when the attacking side wins the fight but fails to secure the payload. This doesnât include when the defending enemy team uses abilities (e.g. flux, boops, etc.) to prevent the attacking team from capping point.
It is only a c9 if you are winning, and then lose when you leave the point.
People use it incorrectly when they call it when a team that was already losing steps off the point or is booped off or are killed off.
