I was playing Tank and we won the match. It was almost solely due to our Illari being cracked, BUT, Illari’s heals are sooo booty cheeks bad. It made the match feel 100% harder than it needed to be from a tank’s perspective.
There were several times I was tempted to tell my Illari, who was hard carrying us, to please switch off to any other support, and try to explain to them that it was not a them problem, it was a hero problem, but didn’t because that would take too long to explain.
Like I said, we won, but God, playing tank with an Illari felt so much worse than playing with any other support. Why is Illari hot garbage?
Illari’s not that bad. That said, gimme more range on secondary healing beam, please.
Are you the type of tank that never backs up for healing and dies repeatedly? checks out, detrimentally falling for the “Hold W” to death meme.
No. I back up all the time for heals, use cover, and pick up health packs if the supports are busy or dead.
That was how I was able to notice how bad her healing was. I’d back up under her pylon in cover and have her pumping heals into me, and it felt like almost nothing compared to other supports.
Illari is bad because she only works with one comp type, and is only 1/4 a support when her pylon is down. She actually doesn’t WANT to heal manually, she needs to leave her off-angle for it, and it takes time away from shooting. And if you’re not shooting and hitting every shot, you’re not getting any value as she does nothing else. She is literally hitscan Moira.
Her healing pool is limited at that and requires heavy cover usage for it to be practical. She has no means to heal over distances or to follow you.

And that comp type is not very good right now. The game is too fast and illari wants a much slower game where you can actually poke. Juno doesn’t really allow that to happen

Whats the point of Illari when everyone has 100% hp at all times because of heal inflation? Pick something that has actual utility.
Very easy to understand. Her healing is only 15m and the othe portion can be destroyed on pylon removing a nice 50hps from the game. Most every support has 30m healing range or more.
Brig = 20/25m
LW = 30m
Kiriko = 35m
Ana = infinite
Zen = 30 or 40m
Baptiste = 30m+ , but simply more skill based than most.
Juno = Yes.
Moira cna kind of keep pace with orb, ult, residual heal effect, and fade. Illari needs like a 6sec outburst and 20m heal range. Also, Illari is the ‘dps’ support which means many people will ignore healing to do more damage many times when they could have perfectly been able to do it. They tunnel visioned.
I don’t think illari is bad as a character you can definitely sustain a tank really well with good pylon placement.
That’s the big issue with her is if you are really really good at shooting you may not properly learn the pylon positioning and I think that’s maybe what you encountered.
I love the sentinel aspect of her just boosting the strength of a position with her pylon be it main or off angle. The thing is a lot of illari players hyper aggress and don’t take seriously the neutral that she can be very strong in with great positioning. She has the ability to not only be an extra dps but almost an extra off tank by having great sustain.
Even with good placement its very hard to be flexible. It takes SIX seconds to reposition which many tanks have 4-7sec mobility tools. They will be rapidly repositioning all the time.
If you put it in a visible spot for the tank to have flexible movement, then its easily shot by enemy team. If you restrict its LoS to only your tank, then your tank gets no room to push advantage without losing the healing.
Straight up, Illari’s best environment is playing with Sigma. To use her primary heals on people, she can’t be playing with allies who move around a lot. No dive heroes. No flankers. No brawly characters. She works best with all of the campest characters in the game to get the most out of her kit.
Any other time is requiring Illari DPS to make up for lack of heals.
The real question is why is moira so bad atm
she’s a dps, so if you arent good at dpsing with her youre hard throwing. You dont play her for heals, as he heals are completely worthless. It’s basically a 131 comp, the other support needs to play a strong main healer
A good Illari can beat any Tracer.
This might be one of the worst post I’ve ever seen on this forum. Here’s the short version:
-Illari was really good but not in a way that healed me so she is bad and needs changes.
The whole point of Illari is range poke hitscan pressure.
She sucks because her damage is no longer high enough to make up for her other shortcomings, such as extremely unflexible healing, no utility and limited mobility.
She needs a minimum of 3 shots to kill a 225hp target, even if you hit headshots only. That’s trash, especially with her slow fire rate.
Unless they buff everything else about her kit, they need to give her back the 75 dmg per bullet.

The issue with Illari revolves around her healing turret that is hard to balance.
It’s either too strong or too weak, for what I’ve seen.
My main issue is that her turret is too easy to destroy and the ability takes to long to be available again. Plus, it’s an healing ability you don’t have any control over.
Her main healing ability has a short range and it goes out of juice easily but at the same time, you can’t buff it too much because of said healing turret that is her signature ability…
Complicated hero :p… but I love her damage weapon and the shift ability
