Why is hanzo in every game

Yeah yeah everyone hates him but did he start getting picked more recently? I feel like he’s literally in every game I’m in now. I didn’t think he got any changes in season 4

He’s a counter to Queen who is really strong right now. So people are being d(%&s on purpose all because they can significantly impact a tank’s effectiveness off headshots. Queen is still one of the softer tanks until she gets her bleeds going.

Why pick any of the nerfed to the dirt hitscans when Hanzo exists?

Hanzo has been getting picked in every match since before JQ buffs.

OP the simple answer as to why he’s being picked so much, is because he has the most unfair kit compared to other DPS.

  • Hanzo is good at any range, and can 1-shot at any range. Can also get random spam 1-shots at any range, and is more likely to get these at close range… whilst still being able to 1-shot from long range. Whereas Widow is only good at long range, Hanzo is good at any range.

  • Has two mobility moves on faster cooldown than Widow Grapple and Ashe Coach Gun, and one of the mobility is a passive so always on.

  • Has Widow wallhack ultimate on cooldown as opposed to needing to build up ult. It’s way more useful than Widow ult because it’s on CD and can be used in any fight, and shows enemies to teammates as well.

  • Storm arrow ability is the single most damaging cooldown ability in the game. No other ability on cooldown does more damage than this, which can kill up to 2 full health DPS by pressing E. Oh also… these arrows bounce, for no reason. Ashe and Widow don’t get bouncing shots.

  • Spam. Ashe and Widow don’t have spam options in addition to their long-to-mid range potential. Hanzo gets it all, at any range.

  • Hit registration. Watch the many videos or go into training range and test this yourself… Hanzo’s arrows connect on headshots when the reticle is further away from the visual of the head than any hitscan hero. Widow is .21 pixels away from the head… Hanzo is .34 pixels away from visual of the head. So his arrows definitely interact with head hitboxes in a different way than hitscans do (Hitscans have to actually aim with skill). Also, due to the netcode, Hanzo benefits the most from “Favor the shooter” which is why often players who dodge Hanzo’s shots are pulled back into them for a headshot 1-shot. This coupled with the fact his arrows register headshots when his reticle is further away than hitscans makes him even more unfair. This vid at 1:30 in shows it: https: //youtu.be/zIu6NB2NJm0

Super EZ to play, braindead one shot potential and a fairly good tank burster.

He is everything bastion is, but better in every aspect + one shot.
And even bronze 6 players can land a rng one shot spamming the choke.
So yeah the rise in popularity is no wonder.

Easier to spam with than Junkrat, plus wall hacks on cooldown and a one shot. Why wouldn’t you play him?

If you are not playing hyper aggressive dive then Hanzo is one of the best picks in the entire roster. High tank damage, one shot potential, ez information where people are. Not difficult to play as. With Queen being meta, you have no shield to block his sights and she is very vulnerable to snipers herself.

Tbh he is a must pick in the meta. Being able to 1 shot anyone, provide walls to the team, getting cheeky picks via lobbing bouncing storm arrows and having junkrat-power of shield breaking makes him potent
His only natural counter is a Genji and that’s pretty much it

He was in the top 500 all season. Not just this week

Because his arrows are basically the Nerf Vortex Aero Howler and sometimes they even curve around corners to one shot you. :joy:

Because of JQ.

No barrier and small shout temporary buff makes her an easy target for headshots.

Because Hanzo has the easiest, spammiest oneshot in Overwatch. And is literally the most broken hero.

Mainly bc he has no weaknesses. I’ve noticed especially in the dps role, the most popular heroes always tend to be the ones with the fewest counters/weaknesses, even if they aren’t the meta. Hanzo isn’t particularly strong by his WR, but in those games where he does do well - there is no single hero pick in the game that counters him. He’s one of the best snipers in the game, while also being so good in close quarters that most players agree you just never duel him at all. Even tanks have to worry about him up close.

I wonder if people just realized Sojourn actually isn’t as OP as she was made out to be too, especially below GM. They were obsessing over forcing her railgun to be strong when it needed a permanent Mercy pocket + low damage spam just to build up the charge for it, when Hanzo is there with an easily spammable one shot just as his regular primary fire - no Mercy or low damage gameplay required. Sure its a projectile instead, but its still spamming a one shot every ~0.56s. It doesn’t take a GM player to get great use out of that.

Maybe he’s fun to play?

(I think he’s also doing well in the current meta.)

Hanzo is a strong pick no matter which tank is being picked tbh. Yeah he has weaker matchups vs some tanks but I don’t think there’s any tank he has a guaranteed losing matchup against because he can leap and pepper them with storm arrows.

He’s been in every game in the last 18 months of Overwatch 1 and he just has continued in OW2.

Why? Little effort, high reward. Has a jump, wall climb, as well as a primary fire and 2nd ability that one shots nearly every hero. Also plays from just about any range.

Like I said, little effort, high return.

Ana says hello.

So why was he in every game previous to the JQ buff?

I’m reminded of Ragtagg’s opinion of Hanzo.

It’s still valid today.

Hit scans are the meta pick what are you on about
