Seriously. This year the Halloween Terror is only from October 25 - Nov 8. Thats only 12 days, not even 2 weeks, and apparently they have a whole new event on top of the regular junkenstein PvE (Whatever “Wrath of the Bride” means.) How are we going to complete all this content and get enough stuff for the Halloween skins in only 12 days? For comparisons sake, here are the times for every other Halloween Terror Event:
2016: Oct 11 - Nov 1 (22 days)
2017: Oct 10 - Nov 1 (23 days)
2018: Oct 9 - Oct 31 (23 days)
2019: Oct 15 - Nov 4 (21 days)
2020: Oct 13 - Nov 3 (22 days)
2021: Oct 12 - Nov 2 (22 days)
What changed? Every single other years Halloween Terror was nearly DOUBLE what we’re getting now. Is this just some sort of cheap tactic to get people to spend more money, or am I just mistaken and the normal event is coming sooner and Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride is coming later?
That said, I’d give them the benefit of the doubt and say it’s because this event is coming out basically right on the heels of OW2’s release. Now if this is also the case for, say, Winter Wonderland? Not so much.
Personally, I’m usually done with events within a few days. They don’t really need to go three weeks now that the randomized nature of loot boxes is gone. Though it’s a bit weird that they don’t just do the full two weeks.
It would be the presentation of the future pve, a little taste and there is nothing f2p to play even 1 legendary skin for everyone, nothing that entices you to participate and not even out of curiosity. When it comes out, it comes out I honestly don’t care. They no longer deserve attention.
Instead of two handfuls of neat skins we might actually just get one new skin (Witch Kiriko), or maybe a handful, that will ALL ONLY be available in the SHOP though.
According the the ad video for the event I think the “free unlockables via seasonal challenges” will just be portrait icons. Probably they will launch the same “challenge modes” or whatever they were called for Junkenstein’s in the past, so the “seasonal challenges” are just “play hero x,y,z in the bride mode” or “finish bride mode in no life difficulty once”, which either will be a grindfest or simply not doable due to skillgating for most players.
However, I predict this event to be THE WORST ever. WORSE than the depressing remix garbage we had to finish off Overwatch1. Back then we at least knew we would be getting something to unlock, even if it were just measly recolor skins.
I am pretty sure it’s safe to bet that tomorrow will not be a day that will release unlockables, bring change to the balancing and calm the community.
I think the balancing will be received poorly, not enough for those crying for change and too much for those who want Blizzard to stick to their announcement of no change until season two, skins won’t be unlockable without payments and the event will be a lackluster “trainee reused ow1 map assets” version of Junkenstein. OH, and it will only run for 12 days, naturally.
Just some more doomer tacos for Blizzard’s depression salsa.
The one thing we can rely on: Blizzard letting all of us down, again.
