I get it. She’s the sniper so has to be able to one shot. I think it’s dumb but it’s clear at this point the devs will never change this so I’ve accepted it. But why can she escape from any dive because of grapple? Seriously she gets a bit of healing, grapples away and is now safe to continue shooting instakill hitscan bullets for free. A hitscan one shot from infinite range should not have this level of mobility/escape. The most Widow should have is something similar to a hanzo lunge at best.

So she can get to high ground? Makes perfect sense for sniper character fantasy. As for gameplay: most Overwatch movement abilities have a lower CD. Also, grapple is slow to activate, not always consistent and pretty bad for horizontal escape.
So yeah keep strafing in one direction like a deer staring into headlights while i grapple, hook shot you around the corner instead of actually introducing some randomness in your movement or moving to cover.
You are complaining about an ability, that is as telegraphed as possible.

A very quick, totally off-topic question → did you happen to die/lose/get killed often by Widow(s) recently?
Gengu’s dash resets on kill, but apparently that’s okay because he doesn’t oneshot you from afar, he oneshots you upclose totally different things thanks to the distance.
It’s a one-time use ability that has a 16 second cooldown. It really doesn’t even go that far unless she has somewhere vertical to climb up to.
Winston’s jump is on a, what, 6 second cooldown? You can just immediately follow it up with another dive, as long as you don’t poke your head out before you do so.
There are a whole slew of dive characters that can crush Widow even if she “escapes” with her grapple. It just requires positioning that will force her into a bad spot where she can’t use her grapple effectively.
I think it’s bc it fits the spider motif Widowmaker has going on and also how you can’t get after a Widowmaker after grapple she’s literally the easiest target
If she ever gets some kind of rework then she should be able to grapple onto opponents and kick them back.

Like, you basically can completely remove the Spider part of her and it would not change a thing.
“Widowmaker” has nothing to do with Spiders, like, yes Spider are often Widowmakers, but what does the F-104 (Starfighter), Martin B-26 or the Kawasaki 500H1 or the Colt Single Action Army have to do with Spiders?
her “venom mine” is a Poision mine, since Venom is injected and not inhaled.
her original Visor from the OW1 Skin (Her True Skin), has 7 Lenses, with her Eyes it make 9 “Eyes” while Spider have 8.

6 seconds for 10 inescapable seconds of dive sounds like a guaranteed kill to me.
Not only that but Widow’s Grapple CD only starts counting down for the reset when she reaches the end of the grapple (or when she presses jump during grapple) whilst Winston’s leap instantly starts counting down the moment he uses it. But Winston’s leap is just one example. Basically any mobility ability is like half or shorter compared to Widow’s CD (DVA, Sombra, Echo, Doom, etc. etc.).
Well, which would you prefer?
OPTION A:
WIDOWMAKER
Grappling Hook
- While using Grapple, if Widowmaker takes 1 point of damage, the Grapple breaks, and loses all momentum
- Grapple no longer gains instant momentum horizontally.
- Cooldown Reduced from 12 to 7 seconds

- All healing reduced by 50%.

- Cooldown reduced from 12 to 10 seconds.
The trouble is that on the second jump Winston might get the kill, but by that point Widow has tied up the tank for several seconds. It’s like trading a queen for a pawn. And that’s assuming Widow doesn’t even nuke someone in the meantime.
Full disclosure: I’d rather Widow not be able to instantly delete someone on the other side of the planet than go for a grapple nerf, but I can understand the annoyance.

- Not to mention several quotes/mentions of spiders throughout her cosmetics/voicelines…
