Why is everyone suddenly playing Doom?

I legit played 6 comp games yesterday and I had enemy Doom in 5 of them ! I SWEAR !

and in none of those games, to no surprise, my tank picked orissa. Lost all of them.

Why is everyone suddenly playing Doom? He is not even that good.

Orisa nerf 100%. Same goes for mauga, ram.

Sombra got gutted. Horsey got nerfed. Hog and Mau are still Hog and Mau.

DF is also one of the few tanks that can engage a Widow regardless of the map.

Actually new sombra is more of a tank counter (doom,ball,orisa types), her only playstyle is sit in the team and hack such when the come in or solo target them in flanks.

Only thing she is good at.

Meh. She’s visible when she hacks, and just visible more in general. Which means she’s easier to track and deal with. Disagree.

0-Oh 100%. but like doesn’t stop doom from being a free hack in punch block or mid jump. Same goes for ball.

Sombra got a big nerf. Mostly in the form of her being easier to hunt down but also the 1 second Hack ability lockout means there’s now even less risk for Doom (and other dive tanks).

i dont play ranked but i see a lot of doom in quickplay and im always playing sombra so i disrupt them quite a bit and make their life miserable. still its getting less of a counter as time goes on.

still if the doom isnt careful ill hack him at the right time and disrupt flow and its over. usually i make dooms switch still. i mean sombra is still good at that. she also isnt TOO bad but YOU REALLY have to work to make yourself useful

Suddenly? He has been a strong tank most of ow2, and quite popular the whole time. Now some of his counters are weaker, and widow is common, a hero he can reach as a tank.

I think this is subjective. IMO, every tank is strong in isolation and at the end, all it depends on is how strong are their counters.

Because people wanted sombra to be nerfed.

Making widow a SSS+ tiers pick.

Doomfist is the best character to dove a widow and she cant do a lot about it.

And sombra isnt there to put pressure on df.
And orisa got nerfed so df team can deal with her without that much help from df.

In other words, a single nerf created a monstruosity

Ball is still better at dealing with Widowmaker specifically. She is more an after thought on Doomfist whereas you play Ball just to disrupt her.

I think Doom is the most overpowered hero in the game. At high ranks on console, he’s been the best pick for over a year except for the one season where DVa was busted.

I’ve been tired of playing against him every game for so long. I have to immediately swap to Orisa, then Doom complains, but I don’t have a choice. It’s either that or let him solo murder my backline.

He’s the most fun tank (maybe alongside ball and queen) to play when the entire role is just miserable.

it was rare for me to see doom in gold… but since past 2-3 days, almost everyone is playing Doom. So, suddenly.
