Seriously, you can’t make a suggestion, no matter how polite you ask without a the whole team jumping down your throat. Hey can we get a healer? “If you want a healer then PLAY one!!!.” I would but we would be tankless. “OMFG ST*U!!!” (Whole teams then starts to insult me. Not to mention the game is already frustrating because the other team is running 2/2/2 in QP classic and sweating like it’s a comp match.
I don’t know. Game feels bad and frustrating. It makes everyone touchy.
Welcome to quickplay classic
Because its a very team reliant game.
If one person is slacking, the rest of the team will almost certainly feel the weight pull on them.
With all the nerfs n what not being tossed around, its hard to individually perform now, making the game even more infuriating to play if you’re doing your best but your team is holding you back every step of the way.
I take this post as a chance to send a message wich I think everyone (also me because I admit sometime I am like this aswell):
when I play
Sigma I AM NOT Emongg
Sombra (my main) I AM NOT Fitzyhere
Roadhog I AM NOT Harbleu
Baptiste… well you get what I mean (also I dunno who’s the best Baptiste player right now lol)
so for the love of the god people just play, focus on your own mistakes and if you don’t have anything positive to say as the match is goin on…
shut the hell up and let people play and enjoy the game.
Because of toxic players. I just had a match where Orisa asked for double barrier after locking Sigma. I stayed Hog. After the round, I went Sigma so we can run x2 barrier and they went Zarya. I just swapped back to Hog and they were mad. Like… Okay?
Right? Yesterday I told my DPS teammate who switched into a McCree that they should’ve stayed as Hanzo because they’re a really good Hanzo player. Their answer was “stfu you’re a bot”. Luckily 2 games later I queued up against them and rolled and smoked them and ended the game with first card 4 medals as Orisa I haven’t enjoyed a victory that much in weeks
Exactly, they probably thought you were being sarcastic because of how many people ARE. I see it all the time.
Because that is what happens to games that prioritize competition over having fun. The game was just better pre-e-sports because there were less people complaining about the games balance and just accepting the fact that Overwatch was a fun, mainstream, casual-friendly shooter. Not to suggest that there wasn’t any Toxic behaviour, but it was more focused on things like “leavers.”
When Overwatch started to get all aboard the e-sports train, the game had to change and with that came lots of balance patches that basically ruined the fun aspects of the game in favour of catering to pros, streamers, and those looking for intense competition (I.e. lots of character reworks, and every new character including some sort of stun, hard-counter, or whatever was able to frustrate other players while limiting what they can do). This new change was made, but there are still a lot of casual players that have stuck around so Blizzard couldn’t just go out of their way to abandon these casual players entirely. This situation has left Overwatch in this weird middle-ground where they are trying to court hardcore gamers without losing the casual base that made the game in the first place.
That clash of player bases is where all the toxicity comes into the game, from my experience at least. Try-hards, or maybe they are better described as “people who actually care about winning to the point where they are too emotionally invested in the games outcome,” get frustrated when people aren’t taking the game as seriously as they are. The casuals get frustrated because they just want to have fun and there is some try-hard making demands that usually come down to “stop having fun and play this certain way because winning is more important.”
So frankly, I don’t know how to solve the problem in a way that won’t piss off a certain percentage of the game’s base of players. As I see it, the game either needs to go all-in on competitive e-sports while implementing rules that punish casual players (i.e. banning people for one tricking unsuccessfully) or go all-in on appealing to casual players and make this as noob-friendly as a game can be. Until Blizzard makes that choice, toxicity will always be a problem.
Regardless of how simple a game is- people will always be toxic in a player vs player environment… its like this tribal thing we wont let go of.
Its easier to blame others, but harder to admit your own mistakes.
Thus people tend to be toxic since they feel that their team is poor but they are perfect.
They are afraid to admit they might have done something wrong.
Precisely described how I feel about this game now.
Thank god i dont play it anymore qp classic im really curious why would anyone play it
Never going to miss the old QP. QP Classic is a hazard area bcs of people like these.
That’s a nice wall of text, but the whole thing is wrong because the balance patches actually became more scarce as the serious e-sports scene was formed. You see whenever they make big balance changes to the game they have to consider the fact that all pro teams have to adapt to the new meta which can take a month or even two of active scrimming which basically means that they can’t push in considerable balance patches near big events
That’s not the only reason why balance patches became more scarce over the time. Balance was actually really horrible during release and if the balance would now be as bad as it was back then the game would be completely dead, but that’s obvious since it’s the same for every competitive game at the start when everyone’s new to the game, the meta hasn’t settled in and there isn’t so much data about the game overall. Balance patches were really frequent at the beginning of the game for these reasons
All they really needed to do was to balance heroes around their realistic potential in high tier gameplay. Instead they also nerfed heroes that countered new heroes which is why for example Roadhog was the worst hero in the history of the whole game during the release of Doomfist. Another issue has been new hero releases and reworks as Sigma’s release destroyed the whole game, Brig’s release had the same effect and Mercy 2.0 just forced 2 players to play Mercy . These are the things that players have complained about, not the actual balance changes aside from some naive individuals who complain about any changes towards their mains
This is why role queue exists. People being tired of situations like that, now we don’t have to worry about at the cost of longer queue times.
because i am a pro level gamer who should be making millions this second, but cant because someone on the team is playing a hero i dont like and they are doing it on purpose to ruin my life how dare they play MY video game incorrectly /s
Because people are incredibly privileged and do not have a life outside of gaming.
I have been trying. It’s gotten me absolutely no where. I guess I’m too stupid to figure it out so why bother anymore.
The game is designed with the expectation that each team will have similarly skilled players but the matchmaker has failed thus putting players against each other of different skill.
Especially in quick play where youll see profiles of people who are ranked in gm and masters on one team and plats and golds on the other.
Your plat teammates will then criticize and hate on each other for losing when in fact the odds of winning were highly stacked against you before the round even started.
The game breeds the climate of the players attitude towards each other. Its been this way ever since they removed win streak bonuses and lower sr gains which keeps players in the wrong ranks for way too often stagnating the ability to create good fair games.
They thought this would deter smurfing but all it does is keep players in a pit of dispair.
