i dont think he was, honestly, he was speaking about the lenght it takes the game to finish, atleast thats how i felt it
Why not make dive better inestead of making other strategies worse or borderline removing them, though

Sure, gradually pushing the enemy back and slogging through the rain and mud to victory can be enjoyable, but pretty often it just feels pointless, especially for Orisa. There are matches as Orisa where I just shoot into enemy Orisa barrier and I start questioning my existence.
which makes me feel like people dont know how to play orisa? like when im attacking orisa i throw my shield behind the enemy orisas shield and then immediattly force them back and push
That sounds terrible. I’d HATE to have to play the same match for an hour.
Because losses are less heartbreaking when its fast.
Long drawn out neck and neck games are always the best, the better team always comes out on top. Where as steamrolls are cheap and annoying.
Much of the reason why I gave up on LoL, among other MOBAs, is because the amount of time I need to sink into a match is huge and most of it is spent doing nothing but setup.
In Overwatch the problem with double barrier was that, while you could get a grueling slugfest that has you firing on all cylinders for 30 minutes, for many people it was two teams burning out the clock until a sense of urgency at the 2-minute mark took hold of the attacking team/whoever didn’t have the hill and the fight actually happened.
Reducing the amount of time spent setting up and transitioning into the next part of a match is overall healthy and keeps matches feeling more like that razor’s edge teamfight rather than poke-the-choke. It also helps get you into the next match quicker which would indirectly cut down on queues.
Sure, if you got the space to do that. Sometimes you can even get her in a flanky position and mow half their team down which is fine. Other times you’re just stuck in a stalemate and there is nothing you can do without leaving your team dead in the water. You feel kinda hopeless because youre relying on teammates to flank and create space and often they just don’t get it.
I believe the devs have the right idea actually. I’m not necessarily in favor of significantly shorter matches, but in this high mobility, high stakes game, longer matches would make the experience feel dragged out and boring.
The entire game isnt geared towards longer matches. Maps arent designed for it, hero balance doesnt accommodate for it, etc.
yet the last 4-5 metas were about super long drawn out fights ![]()
i think its certainly possible to have both playstyles co-exist, but it needs good balance, which the game kinda doesnt have rn
Imo short games usually are very one sided and aren’t good. Super long games aren’t great either but at least it means it was a close game and more fair. I like my games to be10-15 minutes depending on the mode
because blizz deducts and awards the same SR amount regardless of how close a game is.
it feels bad to lose a long faught game, so they work on increasing the stomps opposed to just being reasonable.
Really? I would always much rather lose a quick control match and hop back into the queue than lose a 30+ minute game.
if the match ends super fast then the game was definetly inbalanced,
if it takes a long time its because the players skill were practically equal
working toward improvements right. In a perfect world, the games would be so fast we wouldn’t have to play at all, you basically just accept the win or loss that MM gives you.
cool game
Yeah he was. Literally goes on to say that that adding a banning phase is just more in the way of shooting things, which is the issue.
It would be nice if the community as a whole stopped twisting words though.
Oh brother, have I been barking up that try.
“Winston is fine, the other 30 heroes just need nerfs” ![]()
its not really twisting his words imo, its just interpreting it in the different way, i didnt invent anything that he didnt say,
Usually my long games come from both teams being bad, i.e. completely unable to defend.
Slow and methodical game play along with long time to kill is boring and absolutely wrong for what is suppose to be a fast paced action fps shooter.
The bigger issue here is the players that want OW to play more show paced like an MMO or whatever.
That is why they can’t understand or are against OW being more exciting and fast paced, because in their mind that is not what OW should be.
Even though time and time again that is what the developers hint at, and the majority of players want.
