Why is end of season so bad?

Seems like I only go on losing streaks around that time. Are other players really that more skilled than me? But only coincidently around season end/start?

Idk, the end of season usually feels the same to me :man_shrugging:

In my experience, it’s when people who don’t actually play the game come back to do 5 placements & leave for another two months. So if you get unlucky and have those people on your team you’re pretty much destined to lose.

It’s also when all the smurfs/throwers come out in force to ensure their account is at whatever rank they want it to be for the next season’s disruption.

Tons of people rush the queue’s to get their rewards and comp points, so the odds of getting someone who’s rusty and no longer belongs in your rank tends to go up. They can end up on both sides, but either way things tend to get a bit more unbalanced.

people place for gold guns. typically they dont really deserve their rank anymore since they dont play often enough to retain skill. this practically forces everyone onto their smurfs. its a compounding issue.

Like they said it’s a lot of inconsistencies being added at the end of season. If you’re not the type of player who can take advantage of it by yourself or if you expect/rely on playing “normal” overwatch it can be difficult.

Not so bad for people used to clown fiesta gameplay though

Skill isn’t relevant in a game where so many people aren’t even trying to win. They’re just borderline afk-ing to get placements over with and get the gold.

this is a literal contradiction.

Try reading it properly then? A person’s skill is irrelevant if they are just waiting out the match and not trying to win. You can be incredibly skilled and still decide to throw the match.

I’m 4.2 and dropped to 3950 at the end of season on tank and I’m so pissed about it. I get 1 tricks, I’m forced to play Sigma or we lose because meta, and the entire game in low GM just seems like who has the better team comp. Oh your dps don’t want to swap to Cree? gg. Oh neither of your tanks play Main Tank? Unlucky go next. I’ve been trying to improve to get into contenders but I swear to god the last time I’ve wanted to quit Overwatch this bad was when Brig was OP. This meta is a$$, I don’t want to learn ball, I don’t want to play double shield and hold MB1 around a corner for 15 minutes.

If you want to get into contenders you need to spend time in a scrim organization. They almost NEVER take pure ladder rats.

And what if they want you to play Ball in Contenders? They’ll send you packing if you say no.

Well the good news is, Overwatch 2 is moving away from almost all of the MOBA aspects and moving back into the Hero Shooter game style that it’s supposed to be.

Why even comment when you have no actual reply/argument and are just pretending that you can’t understand anyone?

Are we supposed to feel bad for you. As they say, Git Gud

People rushing for placements

People parking their mains to preserve their rank going on alts they don’t care about

People boosting/throwing to end up at a particular spot on the ladder

It’s why when I played comp, I never played first or last weeks of a season, or weekends. Too many shenanigans.

You’re only a platinum player.

You’ll never be a contenders player.
