Because the Mecha is the Mother and when threatened with the prospect of death will eject it’s unborn to increase it’s chance at survival to propagate the species.

Because it was used to designated that she was unmeched, and “Baby D.Va” was easier and faster to say “Unmeched D.Va”. Just saying “D.Va” is the Call out for a Meched one. This stemmed out from a time when people actually always used Comms in game.

People call her baby d.va. idk anyone who says pilot d.va (unless you do then no offense)

Because calling her “zero suit dva” was too long so they decided to name her “baby dva” by saying she’s in her small vulnerable state where she can get staggered
Because she’s tiny and needs to get into her mama mech’s pouch. But she can’t do that without your protection.

It’s like calling moira’s healing “piss” or “juice”
I say pilot D.Va because calling a 19 year old baby is kinda weird idk
