Why is customer support useless?

I submitted a ticket to customer support because i wasn’t getting overwatch league tokens for watching it on twitch. I verify all the things that the automated system wanted me too before submitting and everything was as it should be with my account being connected. I submit a ticket, wait 24 hrs, only to get a response saying THE EXACT SAME THING as the automated part did BEFORE I sumbitted a ticket, further wasting my time for another 24 hrs. What the actual hell blizzard.

Which is sad because the WoW game masters were wonderfully helpful.

Well, for overwatch i have had awful customer support luck this is not the first time they’ve wasted my time. I find it odd i often hear about how good they are with WOW in general. Maybe they just need to poach some of THEIR team, lol.

They were before they fired most of them and gave you copy and paste answers for literally everything.

Me: My game is literally broken.
GM: HAVE YOU TRIED CHECKING WOWHEAD? HERE’S A LINK TO WOWHEAD.

If you’re patient/lucky and get hold of an actual human (which is pretty much impossible unless it’s a ticket related to billing), they’re still fantastic. Overworked and can’t do the fun things like they used to, but still fantastic, but it’s an exercise in frustration constantly escalating the ticket until something gets fixed.

Not getting Free Tokens is pretty much the bottom barrel of the priority list.

After all people with real issues are there such as hacked accounts, accidental automated bans, service disruption issues etc.

Most importantly the issue could be with twitch’s part not registered the time viewed do to issues such as Proxy blocking tracking.

Ha, guess I am showing my age then.

Thats all well and good, but you don’t send the same thing the automated response does on email reply to the ticket, that just wastes everyone’s time. Especially when the ticket states I already did those things. It’s lazy and actively makes it harder on everyone.

There was that one thread that had a blue post telling people to submit tickets if they were having issues, but when i did they basically told me to contact twitch’s support lol…

Ah, the classic “shift blame because they don’t want to deal with the problem.” My guess is that’s whats going to happen to the second ticket.

That likely is the issue though.

The system works in two parts.

  1. Twitch has to record the account and track the users viewing habits.
  2. Then it uses an API to send that information to Blizzard which rewards the user.

So if blizzard has an issue - They can easily test by seeing if data sent to their server adds tokens. In which case they can determine if it is a problem they can solve.

If Twitch has an issue they are either sending incorrect data or no data at all.
Which could either be due to software on the browser preventing tracking ( no scripts ) or a Proxy which prevents tracking. Or numerous other issues from tracking and sending data.

Not all issues are directly related to Blizzard.
For example, a guy with bad Internet blames blizzard for a ban from competitive.
Yet any one with the slightest common sense could tell you the issue is on the ISP’s end. In this specific case the party to blame is not straight forward, so you do also need to check with twitch to see if your data is being sent acccorindlgy.

i suspected that as well, i just thought it was odd that a blue told us to submit a ticket to blizzard specifically.

here it is in case anyone missed it

Yes - they wanted to check if the issue is on their end at that point in time.
That was 13 days ago, if there was an issue they would have announced it by now.

Look at you being more helpful then blizz’s actual support

you would think that they would have said something afterwards then. like “its not on our end, contact twitch instead”. instead of having everyone keep submitting blizzard tickets and wasting everyones time.

You don’t want to make an announcement to put full blame on a partner, that is how you sour relations fast.
