So, I was just on a thread reading about "who should ( subjectively ) be banned for throwing games & an increase in throwers… But, I have noticed and encountered an increase in users who are SO very young that they can’t even form words yet. These kids must be 4-7 years old! And they are not playing well. Which is FINE. But, they are learning bad gaming etiquette & blaming other ( older ) users for “not doing well”, and even going further to call them “garbage” or “trash” and saying they are reporting them… I guess my point is, if we are all so serious about rank & people not throwing ( and apparently so is blizzard, because well, they ban people for suspected throwing ) why isn’t it actually taken more seriously? Why are small children, (barely not toddlers) allowed to play competitively? Personally, I feel dragged down when I get small children on my team. Especially when they are cursing, spitting and screeching into their mic. And that just kind of upsets me that their parents let them do that. Don’t get me wrong. I have played with some kids who were great, polite and good players, but they also sounded above 10 years old. I know people will say to just report them, but the point is that players stats are affected when they get small children like this on their team.
I think it’s a good idea. It’s not like people lie about their age on the internet ever.
Dude… if you’re going to post a wall of text rambling argument please at least make a TL:DR…
TL;DR kids that are barely toddlers maybe* unintentionally sabotaging game. Also, behaving vile.
Adults can also be childish there is no way to draw a line in the sand that is fair and there will be ways to circumvent it…
I could say the same thing about many adults? there is no group of people in which this doesn’t apply…
If you get placed with a kid in the same team then it either means the kid is really good or you’re simply the same skill level as him/her. Age doesn’t mean anything in a game, your SR does.
The point isn’t adults though. The topic is children who are not capable of behaving/thinking like an adult. The topic is also “what is considered throwing” & “seriousness of competitive games”
@Vareona OR the child’s parent let them use their account.

capable of behaving/thinking like an adult.
Same Thing just different name…
@Vareona OR the child’s parent let them use their account.
already against TOS
What do you mean? “Same thing just a different name.”?
You still can’t define what “acting like an adult” is without completely over complicating the situation…
It’s not a common issue and the requirements to fix it are too large and would alienate a portion of the player base… sooooo this isn’t going to happen!
I have to fully agree here. Although the game itself is appropriate for all ages (even though …rated t for teen).
Comp and its fully unmonitored voice chat should only be for ages 13+ .
Some of the things said in comp voice chat should NEVER be said in front of young children. I’ve heard kids admit to being 7-8 years old many many times in comp games. This should not be a thing in any way. No one that young should be in comp with unmonitored voice chat.
It has nothing to do with them being bad at games. It has everything to do with them being exposed to stuff or emulating things they have no business being involved in for their age.
You don’t understand the difference in adult behavior vs the behavior of small children? The brain of an adult is very different than the brain of a small child, developmentally and functionally. This affects behavior and emotions. Sure, some adult act like small children, but that is usually a choice. Its not so much for a child. Their brain is not developed enough to regulate emotions like an adult brain.
@Mizzerella Thank you, exactly.
G R E Y A R E A of course if you put an AVERAGE 22 yr old man vs. an AVERAGE toddler yeah obviously a difference but it’s the in between mate… A driver’s license is a great example. Some 16 yr old’s shouldn’t be allowed on the road but we weed them out with a test BUT some still slip through and there are of course some 14 or 15 Yr old’s who could handle it. Overwatch would need something simpler than a drivers test to screen people… which all players would need to take… which is a massive pain for very little gain!
Oh, I totally agree. Like I said, even kids that sounded around 10 were good, well behaved and seemed to actually understand the game. An age restriction would certainly be a difficult thing to implement.
SO THEN WHY ARE YOU SUGGESTING IT! you are just cluttering the forums…
I didn’t suggest it. Read the title, silly. You don’t care about forum clutter*, no need for faux outrage.
Anyway, I am curious now. What if say a group of 4-5 year olds made an overwatch team & they were AWESOME. Would they be able to compete on a professional level? ( I just looked it up, you have to be 18 to participate in OWL )
They can’t compete in owl because of child labour laws and such not because of their skill… check out Ember Twitch who is Gm? right now? IDK but i do know there are players who are in gm by 16 and are just waiting to turn 18 to get into OW Contenders!
bc it’s a teen game and they would lose a s**t ton of money lol, what kind of question is this
if 4-7 year olds are on the same rank as you, you should seriously question your own skill… not whether or not they should be allowed to play
