The more I played him, the better I got at the game, and the more hours I put into aim training, the lower my Bapt winrate got.

He’s a good hero but he’s not “meta”. Playing anything but Kirko in most games is basically “throwing” in your teams eyes. But I always said win rate is kind of useless stat, especially without context.
OW has never made a difference between a hero you played all match and one you swapped to in the last minute stall. It also ignores how popular a hero is.
If they are in every game, maybe because they are new or cool like a cyborg Ninja. Your win rate is about 50%, because if both teams have them it balances out.
But you also have the other issue, popular but rubbish players picking a hero. Widow for example is a very good hero in the right hands, but her win rate I would imagine is pretty terrible because so many people who can’t hit the broadside of a roadhog pick widow and proceed to land 2 shots all round.

In my experience, it’s just that the heroes he works well with aren’t played a lot right now. I see lots of Genjis, Tracers, Widowmakers, and Junker Queens, heroes he is pretty much unplayable with.

That too. Bap also does really poorly with tanks that provide little if any protection. Your not going to get much out of bap if your tank is playing Ball or Dva. Not unless your second support pockets you to keep you alive.
Flanking mobile hero’s in general make it harder to land Bap’s shots and punish you more as the enemy team just walks past your tank to kill the support.

In my opinion, Baptiste has tremendous potential. He deals over 125 hitscan damage per second and can heal up to 70 HP per second with area effect. He just needs a few more secondary ammunition and slightly lower cooldowns. Additionally, it would be great if the effect of the immortality field lasted for 0.5 seconds after its destruction or activated without any delay. It’s really frustrating to die right after placing the immortality field.

Bap’s weird in that he’s pretty much always had a crap showing in terms of win rates below top ranks. Yes, even in OW1. This isn’t a new development with 5v5, it’s just more acceptable to talk about it now Bap’s portrait isn’t clogging up the T500 leaderboards.
I put it down to him having what is, at times, rather frantic weaving of two separate aim types, on top of having long cooldowns. Yes, his cooldowns are extremely strong, but it means that if he screws them up then he’s out of luck for when he does need them - and the lower down you go in rank, the more likely it is that both the Bap and the team will squander Regen Burst and Immortailty Field.

Bap is pretty good in GM. I have a lot of success playing him. I think the reason he struggles in low ranks is that to get consistent value out of him you need to have really high APM. You’re supposed to weave your damage shots in between your heals seamlessly and I don’t think lower rank players have the mechanical skill to do that.

here why bap is bad-
The thing is, Kiriko is also weak in winrates. Meta seems to be dominated by Ana, Moira, Mercy and in winrates the best support is Brig. Just seems odd because I always thought Kiriko was very strong, but looking at her performance she’s kinda bad.
He drops from the meta like every 5 minutes
It goes down before it goes up, this is true in all games when you train mechanics your rank will drop initially, cause of your new ability to aim your probably taking duels you shouldn’t, forgetting cover, ability management etc.
But overtime it will settle down and you will be better than before.

We have no valid win rates data, so I don’t know how you know this. Bap is extremely good, he’s actually completely ridiculous, but his kit doesn’t synergize with everything.

Because he’s hard to play well. Bap isn’t bad, it’s just the amount of people that can play him well is far below the amount of people that play him. Think Nurse’s 40% winrate in DbD.

So let me give you the full answer from a bap main.
- Truth is most Baptiste suck, the amount of baps I’ll see use lamp early or just throw it all willy nilly is ridiculous, 1 habit I had to break was not relying on the self regen and burst healing every time I take damage, a lot of bad baps will also lamp when ball pile drives instead of burst heal.
- He requires dpsing and healing he’s not like ana where you have anti nade to ward people off, you ward people off by killing them this is way more demanding then just hitting a sleep (which sometimes virtually guarentess a kill) or finishing off a target with a anti, baps cool downs are alllll defensive you have to win with pure aim, positioning and skill, nothing is done for you in terms of dps.
- Baptiste is a “shot callers support” the reason I have a 58% win rate on bap and can play him on almost any map with any comp is because I am a shot caller, if you do not shot call and you don’t meet all the requirements above on top of that, or if your out of vc and your not cracked out on the things listed above you are best off playing another support.

He plays very well with JQ because of his healing output working perfectly for a brawl comp.
Even with characters like Tracer Bap does well, because the Tracer can just dive over and over without having to defend you.
The difference between one shots and one shot combos is that a combo has counterplay. Widow can sit across a map without anything that can do anything to her and click heads because of the ridiculous sightlines on some maps. With Ana, you have to be close to her, she has to hit Sleep on you, and she needs help to kill you before you wake up. I’d recommend testing it out in practice range. Sleep a Tracer and try to kill her before she wakes up. It’s not possible. And seeing as how she has the lowest health pool, it’s not possible on anyone else either.
