This is really confusing me because anyone can just say: “Why would i pick Illari when Bap is in the game?”
Everything he does, he is doing it better than Illari while also having a lot of utility, something that Illari doesn’t have.
-Baptiste has better and more consistent damage/poke.
-He has a better mobility that is not even on cooldown, he can constantly take high grounds, while Illari simply can’t.
-He has better and more reliable healing. He can’t run out of it. And he has a burst healing AOE ability on a cooldown.
-He has one of the strongest cooldowns in the game: Immortality Field. I don’t think that i should talk about it more than simply saying: Immortality Field.
-He has a better Ult that is usually a team fight win, that amplifies and boosts all the healing and damage for the team.
So my simple question is: Why? Why is this ok, and why are they keeping Illari in the dumpster tier, clearly knowing how bad she is, clearly knowing how bad her pick-rates are and clearly knowing how quick she fell off because of all the nerfs and season 9. This screams bias to me, because Illari is purposely being ignored and kept in this state!
And no, he does NOT require more skill than Illari to get the same amount and even higher amount of value compared to her. So don’t even go that route!
For pretty much the same reason that Ana or Kiriko are better: they overnerfed Illari and they’ll keep buffing her until she’s back in a better spot.
She’s not being “ignored”. She already had pylon buffed from 15s to 12s (thank God, 15s was awful) and her ult buffed to make up for the season nine changes. She’s apparently getting another buff this upcmong patch. If that’s not enough, then she’ll get something else either in season ten or in the mid-season ten patch.
He wasn’t always better. He’s only better now because illari got dumpstered. But I do think bap’s damage is lowkey OP though especially after the projectile size increase. But so are most DPS hitscans, so it evens out. It’s just that they’ve nerfed illari too much and gave her zero compensation buffs with the global HP increase.
Also, there’s less reason to pick illari in general. You would often pick illari to contest the snipers. But now that dive is meta, snipers aren’t dominating as much. Not to mention they nerfed the 1 shot potential of hanzo so there’s only widow now who can potentially 1 shot.
Ashe, cassidy, soldier: 76, aren’t doing that bad atm. But again, illari’s damage got nerfed indirectly so you can’t even contest them like you used to anymore. The duel favors them too much and it’s just not worth it to go illari.
Pharmacy isn’t dominating the ladder either, further reducing the need to pick illari (or ana, or bap) to take down fliers.
If you’re asking for Illari to be megabuffed instead of carefully being buffing her as, when and if needed then yes, you’re going to be disappointed. Well, I hope so, anyway. Characters that get megabuffed are liable to get meganerfed in a month’s time so I wouldn’t want the devs to do anything crazy.
Idk but I love them both because they are hitscan. Illari is adorable w her cute lil chubby cheeks. And Baptiste is my main. Plus, I live in the Caribbean… Of course Baptiste is my go-to!
It’s better for them to give heroes small buffs over time rather than do something drastic that makes then op and results in more subsequent nerfs. They should do this with more heroes. Does it take longer? Sure, a little bit. But it also helps balance because they can stop when she feels just right and not have to change anything else for a while.
