There is no hero I have practised killing more than Ana but I still can’t hit her for the life of me.
Ana is the go to hero if you want to aim practise, mainly because she can’t deal headshot damage so its really easy to set up custom games with her.
Despite all this, I still find her the de-facto hardest hero to hit in the game. Everthing is just so jank when trying to hit her.
It is frustrating because I considered myself to have got pretty good at my aim but every time I encounter even a mediocre Ana in a game, everything falls apart.
I enjoy the challenge of a Tracer fight and I am confident in my ability to win.
I understand baby D’vas animations and I am confident of being able to hit her even as she flys out of her mech.
Genji is just an easy target as he double jumps in front of you, hard at first but his animations are actually super predictable.
Then there is Ana. I don’t think she has a single animation that I would say is remotely sensible. Her jump animation goes over her entire hitbox. Aim at the head and she jumps and you won’t even get a body shot. Her head position moves pretty dramatically simply by scoping in. Her hunched over posture means that she has a C shaped hitbox, meaning that when she A-D spam, her hitbox moves dramtically more than it would in any over hero.
Also her cape doesn’t count as her hitbox, making her actual hitbox even more misleading.
I could go on and on about how stupid Ana’s animations are. It annoys me when you hear the devs took a very long time perfecting Tracer’s animations, ensuring her head doesn’t bobble too much and then they decide to release the animation abomination which is Ana.
I don’t mind hard to hit heroes. Many heroes are designed to be hard to hit but its nearly never because of their animations. Ana is uniquely jank in this regard.

I feel I have no issues with hitting Ana really compared to any other character. She frequently slows down when scoped and suffers projectile delay if moving at full speed and killing her is more an issue with getting around self-bionade and not getting slept as it makes her bulky with 300hp and a potential instant kill on you with dart if you get shot even once before dart comes out.
I think is is actually pretty universally known that Ana has a pretty weird hitbox.
Even pro Widowmaker players avoid making shots at her because they know it will likely miss.
People just accept it though because she is a support and any hero that doesn’t rely on precision aim, like D’va or Winston don’t encounter the same problem.
because she’s hunched over like the old lady that she is
Her hitbox maybe scuffed but I have no problem shooting her as baptiste, at least consistently at her body. Headshots are tricky to do for all heroes since they all AD strafe and have different body proportions.
Baptiste is really nice for it though. 3 round burst hit-scan is probably the nicest combination you can get to reliably hitting Ana.
A good mix between quantity of shots fired and precision shots. Also he has recoil that means if you aim for her body, your shots naturally tend upwards towards her head.
Slower firing single shot heroes, be it projectile or hit-scan I find to be 10x harder.
Honestly Ryzik, I could not agree more with you. I have practiced Hanzo for a good long while now, and I can laterally One Tap a tracer, while Ana just bounces up to me and unloads all her cooldowns meaning I simply die. Even if I manage to get away, her projectiles are so large that they hit me easily, not to mention her anti-nade that does nearly half heath. All that is if she doesn’t use her sleep dart, and if she does it is a one-tap for her. I can honestly be at the perfect range to snipe ana and where other humanoid heros such as widow and ash I can head shot with good aim (tracer included), I could shoot at ana for a good 30 seconds if I wanted, and not hit her once.
Most people love to give her the excuse that she is a support or an old lady (like that matters), but I find most support hit boxes to be broken as well. Kiri CANNOT be headshot because her hit box is the size of a pole, and her strafe animation is like a wave turning on a dime. Illari cannot be hit for a similar reason that her head is too small as well. add the self heals to ana, kiri, and Illari, you simply get a dps with regen making them essentially a tank to a dps.
This experience is from countless hours of deathmatch as well as comp, and quickplay.
I am currently looking for info on how to counter these hitbox issues for dps. Any help would be appreciated.
