It’s tug of war. A mobile mix of offense & defense instead of one or the other
- 2cp is boring
- 2cp is ‘shoot at the choke mode’ (defenders)
- 2cp is run head-first in to a brick wall (attackers)
- 2cp is boring
I love how much you’re complaining about 2cp going btw…

a moving death match of 5s does sound fun to me now. if its bad i will admit it later but i like the concept at this point
It’s time for capture the flag to take its glorious place
But this mode is shoot at and run at robot mode. Both sides have to do this, so from your own words it has less depth than 2cp.
I’m complaining so much that I’ve actually started to play TF2 more just to get at some command points. You guys severely underestimate how good the mode is, but you guys just want to shoot things, so I’m not surprised.
I sure am not. It’s some sort of Payload that goes both ways… At least 2CP was original and different but I’m not against “Push the robot” either. An addition to a game that didn’t get anything new in more than 3 years is always good to take.
KOTH might be next mode to go through the community’s “grinding machine”. I won’t be surprised if they stopped releasing KOTH maps and eventually scrapping the mode altogether.
If we recollect all that Overwatch has been doing since major changes such as removing attack / defense hero roles is make the game simpler so I guess turning Overwatch into a one-mode-only PVP game (such as other popular multiplayer games) at some point wouldn’t be a real surprise.
It seems the payload mode is one of the most popular so I guess that’s the only mode that would stick around for good.
It’s not better (at least not for me), it’s just different and the more different modes we have, the richest the game is, in my opinion. But I guess I’m within a minority of players that think that way.
Playing the same mode in a loop is kinda boring, especially in Competitive (when I used to play a lot). I’ve always liked when the matchmaking would select a different mode after each match.
Well 2CP was my favorite mode because I’ve always liked the tension it gave me to capture the objective entirely. I would always get a rush of adrenaline at that moment (when I was passionate about Competitive). But it’s pretty personal :p…
I think the community made it clear that Escort the payload and Hybrid are the modes they like the most but sometimes it’s all about the maps. I agree that King’s Row is one of the best designed map and since it’s an Hybrid mode, I guess that answers your question.
‘Push’ is literally Koth/Payload with a tug-of-war element added. It sounds fantastic! ![]()
Well go play that and stop complaining here then LOL! ![]()
My only concern with the push mode is that people are going to use the push robot as a barrier or a second tank by playing behind it for cover.
You guys really like tug of war. Besides that, if I want to play KOTH or Payload, I’ll just play those. Why do we need a third mode that’s just both of these; that’s like the bare minimum of content, and you’re clapping for it.
I’ll go play that, but I won’t stop complaining on here. ![]()
It’s what the weak do… ![]()
Let me teach you something funny about insults: they have no sting when you consider where they come from.
You calling me weak is like my turtle calling me weak.
That actually sounds neat, to be honest. Its a strategy, you know. Its not just “push the bot, then back away so the other team gets a turn”.
Maybe Sym can even stick things to the bot. What if characters could change the way the bot behaved? Like you could make it that 6th teammate depending on who’s interacting with it?
Not to me. It just more annoyances like when people try to play more tanky when they try to use Mei as a substitute tank for the third missing tank since they can’t go goats anymore.
lmao
payload-lite
It will probably be better because if you lose one fight you don’t lose the whole game.
I like the idea of Push being a more relaxed team FFA arena-type mode. It will act as a break between the more thought-intensive matches. For example, you queue into a hard-fought payload game with lots of outplaying going on and mind games between heroes, then your next map is a Push map. So you turn on your music, sit back, and just enjoy the game for a little bit before being thrown back into a more serious mode with the next match.
Do you not think there’ll be multiple chokepoints, different flank routes and other ways of navigating the push maps? You think it’ll just be a straight line with no walls or something? Lol.
Push is literally the same thing, except it’s dynamic rather than x team attacks and y team defends. If the enemy team is pushing and you win the fight, you’re suddenly the one pushing the payload and the roles swap.
I don’t get it, is the idea of having to switch between attacking and defend too confusing or something? What are your thoughts on KoTH?
…and yet you felt the need to respond. Thanks for the W… ![]()
From what i’ve seen, the answer is “maybe”. The robot can be in a place that favors snipers, or it can be choke heavy.
This just means both teams have the same job, which provides less depth. You can run the same comp with the same effectiveness and no real shift in gameplay.
Its not, but that’s not what we’re doing here. You’re just attacking, and then attacking again in a small map barely held together by some robot objective. It sounds and looks like a minigame mode.
KOTH is different because the point is located in a specific place with specific map geometry. You’re telling me you’ll be fine with the bot being out in the open, so everyone swaps to snipers?
Its my thread, of course I’m going to respond. That’s like telling a nun “of course you were going to say “god bless you” after I sneezed! Checkmate!”.
…cause I’m rent free…
Thanks for the chat… ![]()
Did you bump your head on the way to respond to me? By the way, you’re just spamming the thread at this point, so I can just report you if you’re really through.
