Why I'm optimistic for spotlight

  1. The game is getting better

OW2’s content has consistently gotten better each year. Venture, Juno, Hazard was a much better batch than Mauga, Illari, Weaver and way better than the 3 the game launched with in their initial state. Even balance, though very wish washy lately, is way more tolerable than infinite immortality spam from a year ago. So I’m looking forward to see what we have next year

  1. They’re hyping it up

They really haven’t hyped up anything like this in a while. Like the fairly game shaking S9 changes they just mentioned offhand a big patch was coming and then put a few paragraphs at the end of a blogpost.

  1. Blizzcon 2023

It was a very exciting presentation, and this seems to be the equivalent after missing blizzcon 2024

  1. They’re already giving hints

They just today mentioned comp 6v6, clash retirement from comp, and likely teased space weapons. They wouldn’t tease this much if they had nothing to show

  1. They’ve had time

They’ve had a year now where PvP was the only priority, so they’ve had real time to possibly do something big

So yeah, I’m not going to have any specific expectations, but I am optimistic

I hope there is a talent that nerfs Reinhardt, but in exchange they allow him to have dazzling sparkles. That’s aura. I want to blind my enemies with my staggering radiance.

They talked about making heroes more customizable and unique in today’s blog. This is the actual novelty.

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re looking into how we can make all of our heroes more engaging and unique for players. This is something the team is wanting to change up and look forward to sharing more… soon.

But it seems like it’s not ready yet. We’ll get more info in 2 weeks
