I am a tank player. I have played tanks for over 800 hours. Its not the tanks job to make 4 DPS comps work. A 4 DPS comp relies on the 4 DPS being able to eliminate the enemy. Against 2/2/2 the comp is statistically weaker from all points.
If you are winning more 4 DPS comps then not then you are the outlier.
ok… so I don’t play with them, I make my own group and get the perfect 222 team and…
oh wait NOTHING about the fixes I want with a 222 + role queue, + 222 balance or per role SR are in place. My DPS player at 3k is a gold Brig one trick who figured a 3k+ LFG could just carry them, so they joined my group as DPS. I have no idea about that being there is no per role SR right now.
Then game balance wise, we get ran over by whatever is the next or current wonky over stack meta based off hero patches looking to fixed OWL level 3-3 play. Either that or the game is an easy cake walk being your “just use LFG” idea doesn’t address role queue and the OTHER team got 5 Reinhardt mains and a one trick Mercy main.
You’re kind of doing the same thing when I mention I’m making home made pizza to a friend and they come back with “Just buy a frozen” one. It’s not apples to apples…
And be paired with organized 6 stacks? Yeah no thanks. Order vs inorder will cause several losing problems. At least if a 2v2v2 matches against an organized 6 stack they should have some possibility of winning.
This season I have 10x the time on mercy as I do sym. 1 hour on sym and ten on mercy.
hypothetical, I was going into the shoes of a dps player who doesnt want to wait. I dont even play moira in the first place.
I’ve heard this so many times. I went up ladder playing symmetra 2.0 because I didnt rely on my team as much, I’ve heard it so many times that I start to think that maybe your the one who doesnt belong in this game.
no but dps players are going to be playing the dps tank hybird heros (zarya roadhog) because I think they’d rather deal with playing that then que times.
people will still que up for dps when they’ve only ever been tank/support players.
It doesn’t outside of the role to role swaps. Yet just that alone is a nice change being the different roles all carry different sort of play focus.
it also (if we get per role SR) makes any hero with in a role carry more weight towards that person’s SR. Being one could no longer chunk 10 games on say support and then just make up for that with 10 games on DPS, to end up at the same over all SR.
and just the fact that 222L doesn’t solve everything like a miracles fix doesn’t make it snake oil by default or mean it’s not something worth doing. Out of all the complaints about 222L the one that holds the least amount of water is when people point to a current issue and go “Well that’s in 222 also!”. Yeah, but a bunch of other stuff isn’t so it’s still a fix, for that other stuff.
the debate is more about what maters more, the other stuff being fixed or the stuff we lose going 222. IMO the stuff we gain is much more important to the health of the game.
Right now, today, you can play those heroes in a DPS capacity. If you do and anyone complains Blizzard takes zero actions against you. Here is the magical part though. Most people would rather play with a DPS Zarya then no Zarya at all.

I’m more worried about dps players playing supports as dps, because it’s better than waiting (to some people they’d rather just play whatever then waiting in the que times, didnt jeff estimate them to be around 22 mins somewhere?)
no it will, I mostly play mercy in quad dps hammond comps with random players, I average a 65% winrate in those comps and only around a 55% in 2-2-2 comps.
I don’t want to lose out on that because it’s fun to play those comps because they are unique and interesting, not to mention I can pull them off
Really? I did’nt actually know this, if they can get it out without the super long que times and maybe give us some way to still play without 2-2-2 (I’ve really liked the idea of 1-1-1 and the other 3 can be interchangable) maybe this could be done with groups or LFG.
I play sym pretty often in QP and when I’m in groups. I played her alot more in 2.0
I usually like to stop issues before they happen or atleast let up on them because I know how frustrating it can be to get banned for playing your character.
Mostly its just about the que times and making people leave the game/people going to other roles and messing with other people’s games. That and I still want to be able to play the fun comps and not just 2-2-2
I really think that 2-2-2 would just enforce double sniper as the only comp that really worked against double sniper was goats… but now thats going away so…?
Again, you are an outlier. That comp is inherently more risky to play the game as.
To paraphrase what Jeff said;
“If player habits remain the same, Internal testing would increase the queue times for damage dealers by 10 to 15 minutes. If there was a role queue put in place, either the player habits would have to change, which we (Blizzard) are speculating about, or the matchmaker would have to change.”
Obviously the interview had much more to say, but that was skinny of what Jeff tried to get across.
