Hear me out. We all know that the DPS role is the most popular by a large margin?
Why is this? Several reasons. The biggest factor being that this is a first person shooter and people like to kill things.
Another reason is character attachment. There’s a reason why genji is still one of the most played characters in the game despite being a launch hero. Playing as a cyborg ninja is cool. End of story.
Think about other heroes like Mercy or Dva, who have been in and out of meta and still see fairly stable pick rates.
The fact is that the heroes with the most interesting back stories and kits, and designs are DPS characters. Think about all of the most heavily teased post launch characters: Sombra, Doomfist, and Echo. All super interesting from both a play style, and a character design.
Fast forward to the idea of a fast pace ninja like character as a support. I think that could pull a lot of new people into the role. Make her more akin to Zen, where her support would be more on the utility or damage side with lower healing capabilities.

Although that sounds like fun, she could be quickly left to the side in favor of supports who heal more
People play dps becasue it is the easiest, most impactful role in all but Masters+.

Supports,Tanks and DPS are all equally impactful below Masters+ and difficulty varies from hero to hero, not role to role.
Not true. The role that excels in killing the other 2 is inherently more valuable. The only difference in Master+ is that the rest of your team closes your weaknesses in comp choice/playstyle as tank for coordination’s sake.

Dps has more options but that does not mean a support or tank cannot frag on solo carry heroes like Baptiste,Zen,Hog,Sigma and Ball. All of these heroes almost guarantee kills as much as any dps can
I just think a lot of the role disparity comes from character attachment.
There’s a real power fantasy to playing as a ninja, or as a sniper, or archer.
Tank is the most impactful role in all ranks, unless you are clueless and have the game sense of a potato. Then you may as well hard lock pew-pew hitscan heroes.
You can have wonderful gamesense, but if you team doesn’t a tank will fall flat. A tank is only as good as their team due to the nature of space acquisition. If a dps can pop heads, then they are inherently more valuable. You don’t even need space to snipe.
I do these days. I play waaaay less tank now, which is sad since I was a tank main before nerfs.

if it the hero does end up being a ninja support then yea that will be interesting to see how it works. maybe she will be the new brig where the more damage she does then the more aoe heals are distributed… if thats the case im sure she will be nerfed to oblivion later lol
gonna be real interesting …
I think there are some really interesting things they could do. She would likely have a smaller hitbox and have speed. Maybe have 150 hp to compensate.
As far as her kit, I’m not sure how the healing would work. Maybe she’s like the genji version of Ana. She throws healing projectiles.
Maybe part of her support kit is to harass the enemy back line somehow.
Maybe the fox is just her ult.
The fox runs in a circle lightly healing people near it and it also pulses at the beginning and end to cleanse status effects.
Just throwing out ideas.
That’s either main support or main tank.
In Master+,sure. Without coordination, though, the role that most efficiently kills those two roles wins.
