I stopped using voice chat basically permanently because there is honestly no point, in matchmaking there is very to little coordination, and when there is I usually will group up with those people but when there isnt saying something will just distract them and destroy what little you can actually get out of them; and they rarely switch anyways. Since I stopped going im voice chat games have been a lot less stressful too. Since I stopped doing that Ive been going up in SR basically daily. Its sad but true.

Yup. Same here.
If you’re an aware player, it is better to stay out of it.
Yes your team may lose a little advantage of your awareness, but on the plus side your game won’t be impacted by bickering and nonsense.
Group chat is worth it, team chat with randoms, rarely.

the only people that ever complain about other not being in voice chat are likely those that also flame in vc in case things go bad.

hope youll have a better experience man. but beware you might also make some people throw just because youre not in vc

The problem is there is no filter for communication.
Negativity on voice impacts the whole team, no matter what level of player you are.
Also in tiers below diamond, you can make perfect callouts, but the person listening may not know what to do with this information.
I will give it a try but if I need to mute more than 2 players it is not worth it.

You should all go play Single player games if you dont want to communicate and participate in callouts.

I stopped getting in voice chat a few seasons back, since then I have enjoyed the game much more. What I have found since then, people will ask once or twice for you to join voice chat, then after that they begin insulting and being nasty and they somehow think THAT will get you into voice chat. The times I have joined voice chat because I was asked, the person who asked is almost always flaming someone are in general just complaining about something. Not worth it.

ISP banned voice chat where I live, i communicate using the pre installed lines like I need healing and group up

Depends on what mood Im in, like the other day I was super tilted and someone asked me to join, I didnt and we won prob cuz I didnt spend the entire match yelling at them

I wonder how many people who claim to improve after leaving voice chat were actually instigating people in voice chat. Out of almost 800 competitive matches, I’ve only left voice chat a handful of times due to toxic players.

In my experience, 9 out of 10 games aren’t won by better skill. The ones that are are usually because one side either has a GM, or a T500 smurf because OCE Matchmaking LUL.

I lost most of my placements because people wouldn’t communicate and wouldn’t coordinate, and not joining Voice Comms is a huge part of that. Mercy getting her head blown off because she didn’t hear where Widow was called, Genji staggering in because he didn’t hear the call-up to regroup, Winston not hearing the call out that they’d switched to Brigitte so he needed to swap, etc.

Whenever someone doesn’t join Voice Comms in the first 30-60 seconds of a game, I internally groan because I know it’s going to be so much harder to win.

Or you can shoot people until there is no one left to tell you your not allowed on the point. That is an overlooked, underrated strategy

In GM and above you need to cordinate the ultimates. Meaning if everyone has theirs up then people talk out which ones are going to be used each battle.

I’ve tried to be in voice, i really have. But the amount of toxicity in the community when anything goes wrong just makes it completely unfun to play.

when im 2000-2700 rating yeah not much use for the comms

very basic comms that mean nothing “winston to the left” …whose left? lol no real comms like “dva in our mega” etc. rare ult synergy, etc.

but when im 2700-3000, I join voice chat. Voice comms seem to be better here although me being near 31, also seem to run into more 12-15 year “pros” in this elo.

I fluctuate between both elos every season.
