Why I Have Yet to Not Despise Mercy's Current State (Part 1)

It would still be better and likely leave more options for balancing than anything they have done in the past year.

To counter GOATS, of course. There are dev talks about buffing Winston against armor, too. Except they are going to do it by changing armor mechanics, making certain other heroes effective against armor as well.

Cause armour need to be reworked because it servers a total different function when they created BRIG to counter dive heroes.

Armour is getting smoothed out to affect heroes a little more equally. Before it did very little against Hard hitting heroes and made rapid fire hero useless.

This smoothing need to happen .

It still does. Armor reduces by 3(used to be 5) damage, that exceeds or equal 10. Anything below is reduced by 50%.

It’s buff to hard hitting heroes, so they hit even harder.

omg, yes but not nearly as much. That is the SMOOTHING. All the heroes that got bent over by it are having the effects reduced against them so they are a little more effective.

It just the first wave didn’t affect beam heroes so now they are doing them.

You could name it “overall nerf of armor”. Which, in turn, means less survivability for nearly all tanks, except Zarya and Roadhog, which got no armor. And even higher demand for absurd amounts of healing, to keep them alive.

As “side effect”, armor mechanic changes affect Brigitte, Bastion and Torbjorn.

What your point, Tanks and support are really good so there doing 2 birds with one stone.

Seems pretty smart to me

I mean I get that, but he never had a real problem dealing with the tanky heroes and armor.
He had a problem getting into the fights to start one without already being half dead when he got there.
Now he is getting into the fight, but being OP once he is in there. That is broken.

And I mean, armor wasn’t broken until we had heal stacking and burst so freaking high.
I mean Brig’s release was great, if not for the fact that she got shoved into 3-3 which made her OP, but would have felt mostly fine in 2-2-2 just with a few adjustments.

Like armor had been the same since the early days and no one went “woah can’t deal with this” because you could. Armor wasn’t broken. It was the game around it. It was the design philosophy changing but not applying a better way to everything to accommodate that change.

So, basically, just because pro players did their best in finding broken tactics, which is supposed to be their specialty, everyone else gets to endure consequences. Even while in big part of the game those tactics weren’t used, or didn’t have that much success.

Checking some of the top heroes win rates in bronze

Rein, DVA, Orisia and BRig are all pretty high with high pick rates, so no they are not just good in pro play

Tanks have hardly changed in buffing ways since the beginning of the game.
D.va has had the most significant changes, but those took her from a Tank and turned her into a hulking DPS and removed counterplay to her Defense Matrix, so now wonder people felt the halved DM was too strong.

Why so suddenly are people blaming the class that has hardly ever been OP?
They are still not OP now, it is just they have broken supports backing them up and are the only ones who can survive enough damage nowadays to make healing relevant.

That isn’t tanks being OP, that is the game being broken because DPS die before they can get healed.

That they way FPS games work. So you can ALSO balance tanks by making them not survive as long to close the gap which is what is currently being done

They are the most commonly played because they are easy to pick up and most of them are versatile.

In Bronze, I would presume tanks are quite rare because Bronze players all want to show off and will often pick DPS, which would be of great hindrance to their team, so the ones deciding to play tanks likely have higher win rates because they are giving their team greater success.

HIGH WIN RATES and HIGH PICK RATES

Then who will be able to withstand the ridiculously high burst damage and damage increases in general that we have?
No one? Great, that makes the game practically unplayable and means we may as well not have respawns and make it like CS:GO where you get one life per round.

Players don’t want to die, so they pick tanks. Picking DPS means very high chance of being one-hit killed, since even bronze DPS sometimes can actually hit their target. Russian roulette isn’t favored type of gameplay, since Hanzo had his scatter arrow, that could erase even tank.

Good, Why should team fighting front to back be impossible??

That why Dive was so good for so long. Why go through an invincible tanks when you can go around him

And why suddenly dive doesn’t counter Goats then? If recipe seems same? Supports are in the middle of tank group, and their stacked healing just reaches around 60 hps. So, why no dive in the middle to remove supports and leave tanks with no healing?

Why are you talking about balance if you don’t even know how the game works.

Because Brig mad everyone too hard to kill. So the balance of the game is survive until you get ults and then kill something with ults.

The games is terrible when no one dies in the mid fight because the only thing that mattes is who has more ults

It’s always been like that, though: whichever side manages to land more ults on their enemies in short time usually wins. Ult stacking is nearly ancient tactic, and can overwhelm defensive ults.
