Rolled through placements only losing 1 game to a hacking widow (legitimately hacking his acct has since been banned). Placed at Silver which is fine the acct hasn’t done much in a while.
Proceed to stomp through 7 straight games…still getting friggin 20 SR a win. What the hell happened to rolling SR once you break 5 wins straight. 20 SR a win after 7 straight wins is absurd. This is why people quit this game and complain about being stuck in ELO hell. Getting out of this hell hole is atrocious, and I am sure if I manage to lose one/or get a leaver once I’ll lose 50 SR in return.
This is why I can’t stand this game. It’s abysmal to make progress in.

yeah i made a thread about it, but basically the game no longer merits any individual performance at all despite it’s claims. and goes purely off of your teams total SR vs enemy. if you’re teams is lower you win/lose more. if higher you win/lose less.

it’s because the lower ranks (plat and below) are all filled with “alt accounts”
of players who have their main account at higher ranks, thus skewing the stats and screwing with the matchmaker.

See that is exactly what I am getting at too. These endless Smurfs genuinely destroy the comp integrity for everyone below masters because you don’t get the skills to play in plat as a Gold player facing Smurfs. you get there facing golds and plats and slowly improving to their level as you rank up from said improvement.
The idea of facing someone potentially 10 times better than you is good for you has always been a myth and is endlessly debunked. You don’t teach people a new language by tossing them a into a conversation with someone who only speaks that language.
(sorry for the Vent)
Open your profile to public and then play some games. Go to sites like overbuff and you’ll find that if you are getting 20SR per game you are not nearly as good as you think you are. You’ll be dying a lot or not getting many final blows or something like that.
For instance my win rate on zarya is through the roof but I don’t enjoy her or think I am very good at her. I usually only get 20SR for a win. With ball who I am very good with I get 28 to 32 SR for a win. It is easy to see on overbuff where my strengths/failings are with each character.
Any and every skill that endures a learning process requires starting from basics and advancing in difficulty…
You don’t teach someone programming by telling them you want a basic program that incorporates structures, recursive functions and malloc without having taken the time to learn each technique.
I have 5 different players on my friends list that are GM and above on their main accounts. One guy has 16 DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS!! 2 of them are on Top 500 and the rest are alt/smurf accounts.
I remember the first time I encountered this guy in DM waiting for comp. it was just him and I and literally nothing I did would work (I’m plat for Hanzo/Ashe/Widow). This guys aim, positioning and ability to punish even the slightest miss of timing was unreasonable…
When I added him and asked his real rank he says 42-44xx (depending on the month). When I ask what he’s doing in Plat games he says… Queue times are too long and I don’t have to worry about my account degradation anymore…
I enjoy a challenge as much as the next person but let’s be realistic guys… I spend 15-30 mins each time I play Overwatch warming up/practicing my aim to ensure I bring the best results for myself and my team.
This guy literally plays Overwatch ALL THE TIME, uses aim trainers and other tools to improve. And that’s awesome!! I’m happy for him and I hope he achieves his goal of going pro!!
But why should I have to be matched against someone I have no hope in defeating simply because I want to try and climb to Diamond? I do/don’t play Overwatch casually. But to make it to diamond should be a representation of your ability to perform mechanically, position yourself to outsmart the opposing DPS and survive. Not be able to outplay someone who could dunk on you and a team of 5 DPS…
Epilogue: we went into a private death match and versed. He beat me 25/4 3 games in a row…
It would be awesome if in game they showed you how much SR you gain and lose in that menu. As it is it isn’t convenient to get to.
