Why hit-boxes are bigger than 3d models?

Literally, why?
Few days ago I was hinding behind cover but Ashe killed me anyway, even she didn’t see me (I checked on replay), I dont think this is healthy gameplay

i wonder if the playerbase could actually handle a more realistic fit of hitbox

I mean Ashe is probably the hardest hitscan to aim with so if she hit you… chances are she really hit you.

But if hitboxes were the size of their hero than Symmetra, Kiriko, Tracer etc would all be even more annoying.

Short answer? Because projectiles exist.

i would not say, projectiles are the reason but the absence of movement acceleration.

Hard disagree. Widow is. Ashe is who I consider the easiest hitscan, since I can play her somewhat well as a Tracer main. I’m not super good with hitscans, but I don’t have a problem with Ashe.

Imagine trying to hit a Tracer with accurate hitboxes…that wouldn’t happen lol

You ought to look at other games especially fighting games. You’ll come across a term called disjointed. Players would literally be unable to hit anyone without severe assistance from making hurtboxes larger than the character model and increasing hitbox size as well for various attacks.

Considering lag and many other issues a perfect model could cause, I think the game is fine. Hitscans would be even more meta than they currently are.

Boy you think that’s bad, you don’t know about TF2 Engi and his “b4lls of steel”. Or the “lucksman” hitbox.

exhib a, go look up tracers hitbox compared to kiriko’s, there is a colossal difference. Tracers hit box was made so you can hit her easily, kiriko’s for some reason has a hand blocking her head, and a hitbox that is tight to her body and head, with suzu and teleport to make it even more annoying. Making her hitbox by far the worst designed yet

Ana as well has the hitbox exactly accurate to her character model (Shown by KarQ). I believe Mercy and Sojourn also has small hitboxes.
