I think HOTS lootbox system is great, it is based on quests. For example they could make a pool of weekly quests like win 3 games with heal, play 2 games with X, do X damage etc. Much more enjoyable than doing 40 Yeti runs (wtf invented it even),
Where am I bashing your idea? I simply disagreed.
Who said arcade is for screwing around and not trying? You should still be trying to win. There are just some off-beat and interesting game modes in it. I like “must win” incentive for the boxes. Getting my arcade boxes for the week is always way more fun than quickplay AKA “I try to heal/tank for four or five DPS who don’t care if they win”.
You don’t get lootboxes from those HotS quests, though. You only get gold from them. You get boxes from leveling up heroes in HotS.
Plz dont take away my arcade loot
This is why regular Deathmatch needs to be permanent. Casuals, tryhards and lootbox seekers can all play together in harmony, because nobody’s depending on anybody else, nobody even needs to get into chat, everybody’s just playing by themselves in their own way for their own reasons and their own satisfaction.
It’s almost like loot boxes are a reward for playing new game modes!
Do you mean Quickplay? Because there is no problem encouraging people to play quickplay. It’s probably the glut of the playerbase already in there. It’d be nice if there were more incentives to win yes. I would support having a similar weekly goal in QP of course, but not at the cost of removing it from arcades which NEEDS an incentive to get people in there.
“worse environment of the game” is quite the claim. Worse what? Toxicity? Queue? communication?
They can be linked so that you can win in both QP and Arcade to progress.
Then what incentive do people have to play arcade? This is the point of having it there instead of QP.
Fun for the mode and still have the possibility of winning the loot box.
If that was enough draw to pull players to try it, they wouldn’t have made the 9 wins bonus. Somewhere the devs saw a number or stat that told them not enough people were trying arcades on their own so we got the 9 wins.
These are the same people that removed a feature for doing it’s job and changed matchmaking when no one asked, they don’t think things through all the time, theirs evidence of the suggested ideas working because they took them from a bunch of other games were they worked stop relying on the “oh because they didn’t do it, it must mean they thought about it.” they didn’t plain and simple.
By the same token we have no evidence that they DIDN’T consider it. I’d like to think that people working on a multimillion dollar invested game do more than “someone else did it, lets throw it in the game”. I’m very certain someone had to propose the idea and it had to go through more than one brain to get from “hey we should…” to actual implementation.
I’m not here to bash or redeem the company but generally you aren’t gonna get knee jerk implementation for something that would affect their bottom line (lootbox profit)
i like lootboxes
if i have a way in-game to get more of them, i will generally choose to do so
i dont find this stupid at all
You are disregarding my whole point about the weekly lootboxes by involving something that is almost completely different. - Competitive points are from a competitive gamemode, the golden weapons are literally a reward for playing well. While lootboxes is something you can buy, it’s something you get from leveling up, it’s something you sometimes get for free. It does not show any skill, it’s literally just to look good, something available to anyone no matter the skill. Only thing is that there are sometimes limited items that are only available for a limited time.
Point is, Competitive Points are obtained by playing well, and you cannot say that Lootboxes are obtained by playing well, especially since weekly lootboxes are basically obtained by luck from the RNG in the Arcade matches.
That is the entire point, a lot of people join Arcade to screw around and not win, because they get the impression Arcade is a place with Gamemodes where you just mess around. The current weekly lootbox system would be fine if people actually were trying like they would in competitive.
And it is not fair to force people to win in these unbalanced, unfair and RNG gamemodes with players who are not even trying. It’s a waste of time, it’s frustrating and it’s just not fun if someone is unlucky to constantly get on the bad side of each issue.
This is not a thread to remove weekly Arcade lootboxes, this is a thread to propose the way you obtain these lootboxes to change.
Oh, you mean the “new” gamemodes that have been around for ages? The gamemodes that are very unbalanced, unfair and RNG? Yea, what a great challenge.
This is not a thread to remove lootboxes, this is a thread to propose a change the way they are currently obtained.
Except I was using it as an example of another ‘reward’ that you can earn entirely for free, and it incentivised. It’s a valid example for what I was trying to explain to you. The arcade weeklies are also entirely defined by winning, so no, I’m not disregarding your point.
The loot boxes are also entirely rewards for either playing the game via leveling or arcade weeklies, or the entirely optional route of buying them.
Both the competitive points and arcade weeklies are examples of systems where you earn an extra reward for winning. Except comp has one that goes beyond 9 wins a week.
Edit: Corrected statements, should not reply to messages between games.
If thats the case, you may wish to alter the title of your thread
