Why Hate GOATS?

Sure, maybe Goats as a singular, dominant meta isn’t focused, but my point isn’t just that alone.

What was brought up is the problem that it’s more MOBA than FPS in general, which is a much broader problem than just Goats existing.

Well, the players don’t seem to like it being too MOBA-y which is why they’ve been moving a tiny bit away from that lately.

It gets the most value for the least effort. That’s how metas work.

It is not a more moba centric game. Those games are hard. They decided they wanted people who are not good to be able to beat people who are good.

Dive is the highest skill way to play the game. Each of those heroes are the hardest heroes in their role outside of mercy. Meta is about whatever is strongest. The easiest way to play the game is now the strongest. That’s why it sucks

I main tanks, and I hate GOATS. There’s nothing really exciting about it. It’s just same garbage over and over again. I don’t feel satisfied when I get a 5-6 man shatter anymore, because it’s expected of me. A huge grav isn’t as rare anymore because everyone is clumped together. A D.Va grav combo is standard, and it’s not a big deal to get a 4k out of it. It happens every game it’s GOATS v GOATS.

It’s cheapened all the big events from exciting to expected.

You’re basically saying: I belong to a minority group (the majority prefers playing DPS, it’s always been the case in any game and it will never change) and I don’t understand why people hate GOATS. Oblivious much?

And if I don’t want to die, I’d just play any non PvP game or something…

Oh, you know, just the fact that we have DPS heroes. Who needs variety when you can just play goats?

Actually shows what players abuse 3-3 to climb, because they wouldn’t have gotten higher any other way.

  1. It’s boring to watch. You have two primarily melee teams smash into each other, one team wipes the other. Repeat. From a viewers perspective, it’s extremely unclear as to what’s happening, and super boring to watch. CSGO you can see people setting up angles, feints, etc. It is much better.
    This game has the potential for great plays:
    Where are the flying junkrat kills, pharah air battles, etc… there are none. There’s no reason for this to seem ridiculous, it only does because the game isn’t balanced correctly.

  2. Having a roster of 29 players of varied characters, yet seeing the same 6v6 in ALL situations is just bad.
    Not only do they put goats on all maps, but they use it in all situations. Attacking, defending, narrow corridors, wide spaces… All GOATs.
    This is a clear indication of bad game design (poor balance).

I don’t hate GOATS in the ladder because I never see it there.

I hate it in OWL because I want to see those pro DPS players get those sick Widow flicks and I want to see those Genji POTGs.

Seeing DPS pros play Brig is depressing

Jeff Kaplan I guess. He called OW a competitive 6v6 action shooter.

Yet people don’t even recognise it as a shooter anymore. Not great.

This happens whenever a meta gets too popular. Before Goats it was Dive and Triple Tanks that would get the hate. Quad DPS will probably get the hate next.

But you know that this high rank people are the once who actualy use goats, when lover ranks dont usualy.

Quad dps is hated rn, because people use it, but its not used by pro play so its less popular topic on forum.

I dont watch OWL, all i know is that people care more about meta that pros do than actual game where a lot of people refuse to even touch healer or tank with a stick if its not just fat dps like dva.

why are you even commenting on it then? Triple and Quad DPS are the most popular comps behind GOATs/Dive GOATs/Sombra GOATs. Shanghai/Hangzhou and Chengdu/Guangzhou both went almost the entire series playing triple or quad DPS on both sides, every map.
