Why hasn't Orisa been nerfed into the ground?

Making a hero who can use a shield and still do high dps from range with CC was the first and second most stupidest thing to happen to OW.

Her shield is I think the only deployable in the game that recharges whilst it is active, just saying.

Orisa was unviable for ages, this is more a general balance problem than an Orisa problem. Shield uptime had just become to valuable with high burst damage and static team compositions.

Funny thing is they didn’t even buff her that much, they just buffed the DPS to the point where all you can do is sit behind shield and play ranged. The counter to Orisa used to just be “walk past the shield forehead” but now trying to do that is suicide against any half decent team. Its just powercreep at its finest.

Orisa is the most boring tank to play by far so Im all for nerfing her to the ground. She is a complete borefest to play on any map without enviromental kill potential

Well, being able to pocket Rein with a 3rd tank an support was also kind of a big deal for unblockable cleave damage.

Orisa good! Don’t ask for Orisa nerfs! What, Orisa has the highest pickrate in GM? But she only works when her entire team is built around her! She takes TONS of skill and isn’t just pressing buttons and sitting behind a barrier! Dum dum DPS main, she takes SOOOO much gamesense!

FYI Orisa was nerfed in August.

Protective Barrier

  • Cooldown increased from 8 seconds to 9

Developer Comment: A common point of feedback for playing against Orisa was that it doesn’t feel useful to shoot the barrier as it comes back so quickly. Increasing the cooldown of Protective Barrier will make destroying it more rewarding.

She’s still very strong. Not sure if she needs another.

I heard a theory that Orisa makes less people queue for tank because they are worried they will have to fill as that horrendous excuse of a hero. I cannot really confirm because I am a Cigar one trick. But it does seem like my fellow innocent tanks do not want to mess with her.

If her shield didn’t recharge while it was deployed, that cool-down would make sense.

I have meaning to ask about which hero Cigar is.

The thing with the original shield tank we know as Reinhardt (DOA of Sigma, RIP), is that he would essentially be out of the game while he deployed his shield. He would have no ability to do anything else than be that shield, including no damage, and thus also no ult charge.
Because Reinhardt was forced to do damage for ult charge, he had to bring down the shield regularly, which meant that holes were constantly opening up in the defense for ranged DPS to exploit.

Now we have two stationary shields that leave their owners completely free hands, so they don’t have to make that very difficult choice of being a shield vs. giving damage - you just do both! No wonder Reinhardt is dead.

Anyway, the change in shield dynamics from Reinhardt to the new tanks is a paradigm shift that IMO is not a good one. The result is a game that has deteriorated to a shoot-the-shield-simulator, which is extremely unfun.

Almost like nerfing characters for a game type that is now literally impossible to re-create (0-3-3) and NOT reverting nerfs done in that time was a mistake
