barely played genji before patch. He wasn’t my cup of tea. Three games with blade POTGs without nanos and high value upsets in a row. And I genuinely didn’t know how to effectively get the most of genji or do a shuriken dash melee combo.
I mean, why are we all acting surprised? The devs literally said a while back that their balance philosophy had shifted away from stability and towards directly changing the meta at the higher levels. That includes taking risks on wacky and even controversial balance changes (and possibly reverting them weeks down the road).
I know we all were busy debating about hero pools back then, but did we all just miss that line from Jeff in his developer update?
Or…they made changes they thought would work well and turned out to be more overtuned than they expected and now they’re evaluating what needs changes because that takes time in a game this complicated with so many different kinds of players at different skill levels.
That’s crazy, though, right?
I have no problem with devs picking favorites, as long as those heroes don’t overstay their welcome.
Much rather have a Genji meta than any other DPS that has been meta in the last 9 months.
