sure people dont like having doomfist slam them into walls or oneshot them with crazy roll outs…but people also dont like tanks being the most impactful role or supports rendering teams unkillable unless your one shotting people.
blizz balances in a weird way, where tanks/healers are aloud to be insanely unfun to play against (play a hitscan into a good dva and ull see what i mean) while if a dps is unfun to play against it will get nerfed into oblivion… unless ofc its somehow mccree?
making the most popular role in a game un fun to play, isnt how you “sell this crap to millions” its how you kill one of the biggest shooters on the market.
And the role still the most populated and fun role in the game. Doomfist isn’t the damage role as a whole, he’s just one of many. The role is not being made unfun.
I wasn’t really trying to turn the thread into a Mercy one, but when they brought up why they should care about other people’s fun, it’s because Blizzard also likes to balance what the community views as fun or unfun to play against as well. Not always statistics, which is why heroes like Sombra, Doom and Symm don’t really get any buffs, and if they do, they’re so miniscule it does very little to actually help them. I just used Mercy as an example because of their comment about unfun and her rework was based a lot around it feeling unfun and unfair, which is also what Doom is experiencing and why they aren’t addressing him. The community doesn’t like him, outside of his mains.
Anything that might kill popular heroes is demeed unfun and free real estate for nerfs and nerfworks, regardless of how strong they actually are. Should they pay attention to the Genji main who complains about anything that he doesnt have an advantage against? Its a vicious circle of abandoned heroes staying unpopular because why not just pick Tracer/McCree every single match, since they have never been nerfed or are overbuffed, respectively.
Popularity is a direct correlation to gameplay power. This an inexorable truth that no one can deny because weak heroes win less and winning is fun.
‘‘Frustrating to play against’’ must be heard equally for everyone, or for no one at all. Or else you end up with a dead game like OW, where entire sections of your playerbase go for greener pastures of games where the balance isnt avoided like the plague because it might hurt the superiority complex of Tracer mains.
OWL used Fist pretty well in rush meta in this June tournament. Sparkle from Dallas Fuel was even using him effectively into Torb/Echo/Brig at the same time. He’s arguably the best Fist player in the world so it’s unlikely regular players will do that but still, the design can do what it’s meant to.
Remember when we had the great streamers like Surefour, Calvin, Codey, Seagull as top Overwatch content. Even moderately toxic to hilariously toxic streamers like XQC, Dafran and Kephrii were a good round about. Better skilled, more versatile, more intelligent streamers.
Try it in Diamond and below, you pretty much are forced to go Sombra, or McCree and play full time body guard for your backline against a Doom who know how to roll out. It completely throws away any fun the match has, and it makes Doom in turn a hero that exists simply for the sake of annoyance and not ability (Sombra says Hi)
Logitech G Pro X Lightspeed, one of the best on the market, perhaps you don’t realize after a certain distance away you don’t have anything from any hero, let alone a hero who has KNOWN audio bugs.
Don’t get your panties all bunched up because I don’t agree now.
GM isnt ‘‘good players’’, its the top 0.1% of the playerbase and should not be counted for anything. Plus GM players are just as biased as everyone else - if not more - and specially loud at that.
‘‘Acceptable’’ rank inflation excuses arent good for balance either. At all.
Plus the whole point is that DF should not have to depend on CC burst combos or terrain abuse to get by, not ‘‘rollout combo OP’’.
I hear this myth over and over but when I tune into GM/T500 I saw the opposite
I don’t know why top player supposedly claim “it’s not good” but still is one of their core strategies
Which they removed before the rework even happened.
Except that even at her peak with Mass Rez, Mercy was considered a niche pick at high level play. She was ONLY used when paired with a Pharah at pro level, and on ladder, her pickrates went down the higher in rank you went.
It’s not random. He has kb resistance during RP and during a targeted slam.
That thing is small. I’ve lived plenty of times in situations where it looked like it should have hit me.
Really, any hero that can get enough height to get to a rooftop can do this. Junk, Pharah, old Genji with ledge dash, etc. I do support making slam louder though.
