Why don't you peel?

Support players break their back dealing with “i need healing” spam just to make sure you can win a fight, so why is it 90% of players seem to not want to return the favor by watching out for supports? You understand that if they are constantly getting dove on and you do NOTHING to help then you wont get the healing you are crying about right?

Scratch their backs, they’ll scratch yours.

A lot of people probably don’t know what peel means. I only discovered what peel actually means a couple of months ago, and I’ve been playing since launch week.

It’s hard to say because sometimes you have to worry about one or more of the enemy team’s 5 other players as well.

Your healers die the fight is lost

peel is just the term used, watching out for your teammates is something you shouldn’t have to be asked to do.

A lot of it depends on which side of the battle you’re on. Sometimes, it’s more advantageous to try and kill the enemy before they kill your team, 'cause going back to peel means you’ve already lost.

Often times, though, people don’t understand the concept and/or even realize their supports are under attack.

I’m a tank main. I peel for my supports constantly. To my healers, don’t stop healing me when I peel, please.

Amen to that. My experience as a support character (Mercy main) is that you’re on your own the lion’s share of the time.

I can’t stop watching this gif.

And from what I’ve heard from teammates when I ask for help. “It’s not my job to babysit the support” :upside_down_face:

Unfortunately it’s not always as easy as that, like if a Winston dives your Mercy while you’re playing Soldier, 9 times outta 10 he’s gonna kill her before you kill him (I know it’s hard to provide good examples since there’s always gonna be more factors in play than just this)

That said, so many people don’t even make the effort to peel, just keep blasting away at the enemy then look around and realize that their healing and damage boost is walking back from spawn with a big cartoon lump on their head

Making a call out would help, being mute in chat but flaming others because you never said you were being dove is actually your fault.

You have correctly identified why Dive is fundamentally the strongest general comp.

You can both Dive the enemy back line, or dive BACK and protect your own.

No other comp has this same flexibility and mobility, and so no other comp is as generally strong.

peeling is such a new phrase that wasnt used like a month ago.

Literally coming out of nowhere out of nowhere cus it sounds pro like.
It comes from a joke about league.

But yeah I protect my healers as much as I can.

But you cant really do that as roadhog lmao. his gun is just that bad. Its just a tool to prep for his hook.

Several things IN GAME that alert you to supports being attacked. Having to make the call out is what people have to do if you actually are THAT oblivious to whats happening to your teammates.

What do you mean? If I run to the front line and am doing damage behind a rein shield as junkrat or mccree or what have you, the only thing IN GAME that tells me the support was dove on was the kill feed.

I get why Lucio doesn’t have a “I’m being attacked!” line that plays automatically like Mercy does, since he’s usually in the thick of things with his team and you’d hear it every time a fight broke out

But I feel like Zen and Ana should each have one, since- like Mercy- they tend to hang out near the back of the team, so if they’re taking damage it’s probably because they’ve got someone hopping around on their head and need help

I do peel.

  1. If I am able to. This depends on which hero I’m playing and my current position. I play a lot of D.Va. She’s usually very good at peel. But when I play Reinhardt, it’s not always possible depending on the circumstance.
  2. If I know you are in trouble. Make sure you use voice comms to make call outs. I might not see you being attacked.
