So many games are lost because there is an overtime ticking and people don’t rush on the objective to reset it. Their reason being most of the time “but I’ll die”.
Yes you will die, but if you don’t do that you’ll lose the game!!! Is it so hard to understand?!! How is a guaranteed defeat with one less death worth more than a potential victory?
I’m not complaining that “I don’t climb because of idiots in my team”, because I probably won more games due to the enemy no resetting overtime than I lost because of those as teammates. I’m just baffled by how dumb people are sometimes…

Because typically it’s better to give up a tick or two and go in together.

Firstly, your death probably wont do anything. Secondly, extra deaths mean less mmr rating. Thirdly, it is hopeless for a widow to grapple onto point. It is a better calculated risk for your tank to respawn and you stay alive doing damage instead of dying and then they trickle in.

I’m not talking about situations when you can wait for the tank to come back. I’m talking about situations when there is no time left, and grabbing those extra few seconds can be enough for your tanks to arrive.
Sure, extra deaths mean less mmr rating, but i’m pretty sure it’s negligible against a defeat…
There are a lot of variables to consider in a very short time and making a beeline for the point isn’t always the correct play. You may want to try to touch at the last possible millisecond to buy the most time for your teammates which doesn’t always work out. Asking if anyone can touch is a good idea to make sure that person knows its their job to get on point and nobody else is in range.
I think that 95-99% of the time it wouldn’t change the outcome of a game in the situations you’re describing, however. Far more games are lost by a C9 (when an attacking team accidentally leaves the payload in overtime)
Always always alway go for it. Even if you think there’s no hope. Also I always keep going for kills after the match ends. I keep shooting til the scorecard screen.
Decision making is the hardest to learn, much harder than improving mechanical skill. Actually requires a certain level of intellect.
I mostly wait that my team can get there quickly so I avoid death and we might win. Also we can get knocked off the objective we can’t do anything about that. Or it’s simply a bug which I came across multiple times where I stood on the objective and the game didn’t register that.
