No please. I love Jonny’s work but Lúcio already has a brazilian voice actor…
Who is not the English version Lucio
The BR VA for Lucio sounds pretty different though. It’d be pretty jarring for Lucio to change VA for a few lines.
Hallelujah!
Please, when you get Lúcio some vl’s, make sure to have a Brazilian do the translations/line selections and voice coaching, not a Portuguese. The differences in sound/lingo are pretty major for those that speak the language.
I’m from Portugal and I’m very happy about this!
And that Brazilian voice actor is fine for the versions of the game he acts in, not the one he has no part in. Don’t be silly.
I swear that if the game is changed so his ult lines are in portuguese, I’ll buy 50 lootboxes as a thank you.
If every hero gets to speak on their native language so should Lúcio, with all due respect to Jonny’s work, but it’s offensive to me that he gets to speak portuguese (which isn’t his native language) when these lines already exist.
Blizzard should take it take more seriously. Lúcio is so disconnected from his roots it’s the least they could to do.
A brazilian voice actor has no part in a brazilian character? -snorts-
But Lucio will have be able to speak in his native language, just delivered by an American voice actor. You taking offense at that is simply absurd. We already know why they hired the guy they did to do Lucio’s voice, and in the English versions of the game he is Lucio. Period.
Having a few of his lines suddenly coming from a completely different-sounding voice isn’t an example of Blizzard taking this more seriously. It would be an example of them losing their minds.
I take offense because it’s MY language and MY culture blizzard is representing. So yeah call me silly all you want. I’m on my right ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Get less offended at things, the world has enough of that.
They are going to try, because they care, but it’s going to be the voice actor that is perfect for the role otherwise.
Changing voice actors for one or two lines would be asinine.
Zarya may not be great at Russian, but her ult sounds uniform with the rest of her lines for out favourite Russian
Did you just intentionally misread what I said? I said the brazilian voice actor has no part in this game, meaning the English version of Overwatch. He obviously has a part of Lucio in other versions of the game.
At this point, it feels less like you’re discussing the topic and just whining that Lucio doesn’t have a Brazilian voice actor in this version of the game. Something you should have gotten over two years ago. It’s called voice acting for a reason.
I love how the thread is about having Torb speak Swedish but instead it turns into a thing about Lucio (who I love btw).
I really wish they would give Torb some Swedish lines.
I don’t mean to sound rude, but it simply doesn’t matter that it’s your language or your culture. Jonny Cruz is Lucio in this game and that isn’t going to change.
But as long as we’re playing that card, I’m black. I’m not offended that Lucio voice isn’t by an Afro-Brazilian actor. Because I understand that acting sometimes means playing something you aren’t, and if he was the best voice for the role, I’m glad they picked him instead of going with an inferior actor just because he checked the right racial/cultural boxes.
Lúcio doesn’t have a brazilian voice actor because blizzard never bothered to begin with. Ana VA is from Egypt, see they looked out for someone. But to each their own, if seeing a brazilian talking about this issue bothers you so much, idk man i’m done with this subject
Can we get a “This is good for me!” voice line?
Yep, like I said. You’re not discussing the thread topic. You’re just complaining about Lucio’s voice actor, like this is some thread from 2016. The issue is settled. Get over it.
Seeing a Brazilian discuss the issue isn’t bothering me, seeing someone being completely unreasonable is.
I was discussing about his portuguese voice lines that already exist in game. But somehow you were the one who brought* all this up bc they are* irrelevant to you because you are american and it doesn’t matter.
Also “I’m glad they picked him instead of going with an inferior actor just because he checked the right racial/cultural boxes.” yeah because Voice actors outside america are inferiors /roll eyes
Anyway this thread is about torbjorn so im done
And once again, you intentionally misrepresent what I say. I didn’t say voice actors outside of America are inferior, I said that Lucio was the best choice according to Blizzard and that any choice would be inferior to that.
I was discussing about his portuguese voice lines that already exist in game. But somehow you were the one who brought* all this up bc they are* irrelevant to you because you are american and it doesn’t matter.
Me being an American has nothing to do with this. I wouldn’t care if one of the American characters was voiced by a British or Egyptian guy. The fact that Lucio isn’t voiced by a Portuguese actor is not “irrelevant” to me. All things being equal, it would he been nice if he was. But if Jonny was the best choice, and Blizzard says that he was, then I believe them. I believe he captured the essence of the character better than anyone else, he is Lucio. And that’s more important than him technically being Brazilian.
so im done
Good.
