So what I am suggesting is that the devs simply implement a poll system, maybe on the main menu of the game when you load it up.
“Do you think Hanzo is in a good spot?” Yes or No
“Do you think Brigitte is in a good spot?” Yes or No
“Do you think Sombra is in a good spot” Yes or No
I’m sure many people have an opinion that don’t come to the forums to share it. I think this would solve some problems and help the devs to better understand what the majority find frustrating.
A big argument is this
Even if this was true we still know what we find frustrating as players and polls don’t just have to be about balance.
Do we need to be game developers to vote on if we want a new tank instead of another DPS or to ask what our least favourite map is so they can try and make it more fun ?
Here are more arguments against.
This could be solved by asking specific questions to targeted players and again does not need to be about balance but more about things that cause frustration.
the only argument against that I can’t debate is this
Hanzo does better everything than all the other dps heroes.
Brigitte is fine, because she has some very obvious weaknesses, the problem with her is that people keep being dumb dumb and keep playing into her hands. Her shield only covers such a small angle, literally all you need to do, is attack her from another angle, different from where your allies are spamming her, she dies in a second.
Sombra is in a very bad spot, because with the recent changes, the hack is too fast, so it feels so bad on the receiving end, but also all the random interruptions feel bad for the Sombra players aswell. I’d love to have older Sombra back that gained ult charge from healthpacks honestly, it’s better for those against Sombra, and for those who play her.
Been there, done that (made a thread about it)
The sum of it: Polls only show what’s popular not what’s balanced.
This community is too filled with selfish people pushing their own agenda to balance this game.
The majority of the community seems to one trick low skillcap heroes in low-mid skillbrackets.
And you want to ask them what they think about Hanzo? Heck, if you’d asked the community we’d be buffing heroes like Rein and Mercy, and nerfing heroes like Doomfist.
Most of it they can get from the raw stats. The experiential data would be very useful to them though, to figure out how it feels to play certain characters or the game as a whole.
The majority of this community thinks balanced hero’s are weak and over tuned hero’s are balanced. There is also a huge amount of players that like to give their opinion on hero’s they know nothing about and will overplay how much their favorite hero’s need a buff.
Maybe, but if a character is very unpopular then there probably is a reason for that.
It doesn’t need to be questions about character balance.
“Should we force public stats in competitive ?” yes or no
Provided it’s a poll with only two answers, it may be safe to do so. It’d tell us who they’re thinking about + give us (at least a placebo) a say in the matter. I think it might actually make some people happier LOL
Yes I thought of that myself, but wouldn’t the people with opposite opinion and multiple accounts in theory balance out. And would a few people with multiple accounts be able to inbalance a poll to millions of people ?
I am not saying having in game polls is bad. Just that it will be skewed. I am not sure on who has multiple accounts, but from what I have heard, it seems that it is more common among people with higher rank accounts.
So it would be more of a rank based balance of opinion as opposed to which side of the coin do you fall on.
I am all for in game polls though, so long as it isn’t in your face every time you log in.
Yes I agree, it shouldn’t be overly intrusive but at the same time should be visible. It shouldn’t block all actions and take up your screen until you vote, it should be optional just in the corner somewhere.
I would definitely like it if we logged in and had quick short polls to give yes / no answers. Optional explanations we could give maybe as to why we chose it?
Feedback should always be seen as gold for a game and giving an easy way to do this without people looking at the forums seems like a good idea to me. It’s literally painless if it takes less than 10 seconds to do these polls.
This would be a bad idea for them tbh. Because people don’t care about the game’s design, and more about specific heroes (positively and negatively) you’d find most opinions to be based on subjective reasoning at best, or intent to sabotage at worst.
Enough of the playerbase already made it clear that balancing around the game’s intended design isn’t what they want, and instead want everything to work always no matter what (which is why the balancing issues became so severe) even if it means throwing away the game-design entirely.
