Why don't Russian-speakers have their own servers?

First of all, this is NOT to diss Russians. Plenty of awesome Russians.

What I don’t get is why they don’t have their own servers, considering their language and their “society” not being very easy to mix with European culture. Most of Russian players don’t speak a word English, and whenever you end up with Russians on your team you are likely to loose the match (unless they can actually communicate in other languages).

Any reason for Blizzard not to launch servers in Russia/Belarus/Estonia/Latvia/Lithuania/Ukraine/Moldova/Georgia/Armenia and so on. Earlier Soviet countries should have their own sever for their common language, Russian.

Instead Russian speaking players are now disliked and causes losses and mis-communication, anger and frustration ruining other peoples game play.

Why not give them their own servers? I know it would improve my gaming experience a lot, and chances are other people think the same. And no, not to exclude, but to further enhance different societies gaming experience. Russian speakers would be able to communicate as well if their teammates was all Russian speakers. Mixing the European English-speaking society with earlier Soviet countries with their Russian language makes no sense at all. Only thing I can think of that would make just as little sense is to open American servers to the Chinese. Makes no sense at all.

I imagine that they did, but then they got taken down as soon as they invaded Ukraine because Cancel Culture is dumb and Virtue Signaling companies are happy to jump on board the the bandwagon regardless of how useless it is because it generates good PR.

It’s not about languages, it’s about locations. Americans don’t play with the Chinese because of latency, not because of language barriers. The online gaming world doesn’t really work on segregation based on languages. There are plenty of Russians who speak English.

So should we give every European country their own servers because their language and “society” are also different?

Sounds too expensive and pointless to make servers for every EU nation.

And how is Russian culture and language not “easy to mix” with other EU countries?

…And I’ve met plenty of Russians who do speak English and other non Russian Europeans who don’t speak a bit of English.

That’s just how it is in EU Servers :man_shrugging:

By who? You?

I didn’t know you spoke for every European

Except the US is in North America and China is in Asia LMAO :joy:

Meanwhile Russia is just as European as the rest of the Continent

I wouldn’t be against giving Russian’s their own servers if they asked for it, but saying that they should have their own servers because “their society is too different!” sounds dumb to me.

Latency is horrible too.

± 150 ms is usual situation here.

“Sorry, not racist but RACIST.

Why should blizzard launch new server sites which cost a whole lot of money to start with if they can just let the russian people play on eu servers?
IF they made so much money on the local market that it would make sense to provide closer servers to their customers to sustain them as paying clients, they would.

So, either “the russians” (as in the whole area and its surroundings, seen on a global persopective) don’t buy enough games from Activision Blizzard OR they (the shareholders) just don’t care, take what they can get, and ignore the rest of the situation.

Also, the “we can’t communicate” thing is something that is not “russian specific”. Chances are PRETTY close to 100% that if you cross ANY border to a european country you end up in one where they speak a language that is NOT native to you.
So “give them own servers because they don’t speak english (well)” is a pretty terrible argument.

YOU, “Billy”, angry about “losing because of them russians” are definitely ignored by Activision-Blizzard. So spare yourself and the rest of the community from reading these “sorry, not racist but racist” threads. Nobody needs them.

That can be said about any non english-speaking EU nation lol

Servers are not divided by nations but optimal locations. With your logic they should allow only Germanic players in EU servers

Well, Microsoft merger will probably fix some stuff…

Given that they are the second largest cloud server company in the world.

That said there is kind of a political situation going on with Russia right now…

nice plan…

  • separate all russians into another server
  • close that server because of sanctions

First, learn about other countries, and get it in to your head for the rest of your life !
Lithuania is not a soviet countrie ! Second language is English ! America has more russian speaking people then Lithuania !
I will agree that there needs to be a way to avoid russians just like in CS:GO, but your post is degrading and you should get a ban until you learn about the countries your writing !

The xenophobia is off the charts…

Can you imagine me posting this about South American players playing the Americas server?

As a Lithuanian-American I can confirm. They are a UN nation and have the highest population of blue-eyed blonde haired cuties in the world

Our language is also the oldest active language in the world. You speak Baltic or get out!

Servers really should be language > region within a reasonable ping range.

“Go back to your own servers!!!”

There’s a lot of people not speaking English in EU in the first place…
Russians are not so bad at it. They can make themselves understandable, and so can everyone really, even easier with ping system to help… But really everyone can say basic stuff like “help” “push” “point” “target low” “target 1”
EU people in games have the habit of not speaking, embrace any that’s speaking a little for callouts.

Probably because there is no money to be made in Russia.
Otherwise greedy Blizzard would have never made this move:

The overwhelming majority of the population is living in poverty, because Putin and his minions are taking it all for themselves :woman_shrugging:

“Gotta build that firewall!”

while that’s probably true, most online games in EU share servers with Russia.
Because it’s not about the European Union, but the Europe Landmass, which Russia is a part of.

No thanks. That means even more non english speakers in my matches. Why are you assuming everyone in eastern Europe speaks russian?

Not to mention the issue doesn’t end with people speaking russuan. I see a lot of french people who doesn’t use english either.
