Sometimes when i play comp i feel like i am the only person who is conscious… These days i keep getting paired with 10 year olds who thinks that we need 2 snipers on attack when playing console! I watch the kill feed for the whole match and i find that they barely get 4 kills a whole game. But what most annoys me is when i ask them to switch polietly and they tell me to s t f u. Then we have 4 dps and its basically a 4 v 6. In these games i normally just try and carry as a dps Moira (And i usually do) or if i cant beat them join them and i just play pharah and attempt to carry that way. I find that this is a big problem and i find that i keep on getting dragged down into silver over and over again from these people. Any advice??? I also duo que so me and my friend always flex
Wow that’s toxic, you can’t ask people to switch, Jeff should ban you.
I don’t know, but I feel you. I had a couple recent matches with Widowmakers that were getting no picks. It’s hard to tell what they’re doing without taking time away from the match to watch them, for all you know they’re throwing when they aren’t getting any kills, or they’re just terrible. We were able to encourage one to switch to something “more suitable to the situation.”
Ikr i am being so toxic how dare i ask someone to do something on a game they paid for
The problem is, even though your team is not helping the situation, your SR placement is still reliant on your individual performance (aim consistency, healing amount, objective time, objective kills, etc.)
I’ve had games where I lost 8 placement games and still reached low diamond or high platinum (PC and PS4).
My advice is to pick 2 to 3 heroes you are confident in and practice on them. Play against AI to work on aim (if you pick someone like Ana, Zenyatta, or Soldier), and constantly practice spatial awareness. I also suggest trying to at least get 30 minutes of playtime on all the heroes so that you can understand their playstyles, strengths, and weaknesses.
Good luck.
People in low elos don’t switch because they’ve only got limited experience in the game, and almost always have dumped all their hours into 2-3 heroes. They literally cannot play any other hero.
Also they don’t understand team composition or countering, so switching never occurs to them.
The mindset of “I’m practicing heroes I’m not good at” is a form of throwing to me IF it’s done in a competitive game. There are so many other gamemodes for practicing heroes they’re not good at, and if competitive is where they think they can do that, I’m reporting them.
You’re forgetting “I’m lagging right now so I can’t play hitscan”. It’s the reason why I don’t switch most of the time.
True, if it’s in comp I’d agree. Maybe they’re having an off day, warming up, whatever, but don’t take that out on the rest of your team!
I’ve heard that one before as well.
IMO:
- Lack of game sense
- Doesn’t fully understand counters
- Can’t play certain heroes cause they only tried/attempted to learn only one
- “Let me use ult first” then never to use it cause they hold it for too long until they think they can team wipe (which never happens cause of #1)
- (less so) Ego, some think they are really good at certain heroes and don’t want to switch so they can prove how good they are (rare occasion).
Man, that’s the worse. “Sorry, guys. My connection is bad right now.”
Like, why are they joining a competitive game, then?! I don’t go “Oh, it’s thunderstorming out right now. I may lose power. BETTER JOIN A COMPETITIVE GAME.” Seems silly and counter-intuitive.
They might be the case. But i have been playing for about 2 months now and i am lvl 125 and I find that i know all these things pretty well. But the thing is in low sr you can literally play someone who you have never played before and still do really well with them. Like for instance i was asked to play Rhin when i had barely played him for 10 mins i asked my team how i went and they said i did fine. That might just be there opinion.
They’re low ELO for a reason.
Overwatch isn’t a game that requires mechanical skill to climb. It rewards coordination, communication and adaptability far more, especially in lower ranks, than it does the ability to click heads.
If you don’t coordinate, don’t talk and either don’t switch when you’re being countered, or learn how to outplay your counters, then you’re going to lose games and fall in SR. And where do players who do none of these end up? In low ranks and in OP’s games.
That’s an incredibly silly way of looking at it.
For one, competitive is the only mode that trains you to be better at competitive. It’s where the best players are, and it’s the only mode in the game where people actually care about forming proper team comps. You will not learn how to play characters in QP or Arcade, you’ll just learn bad habits.
Secondly, throwing has a specific definition. It is intentionally trying to lose. It is not playing a character poorly.
They don’t seem to switch much in OWL either, so…
I know everyone in liw elo sayes this but i feel i could easily get out of silver and at least into gold if i just had a decent team every game.
Usually they think they’re too special to switch.
Or sometimes it’s the only heroes they know how to play.
My internet is always bad. It just gets worse sometimes. And then it stops. No real reason why it happens.
Thats because there average is like 15 kills a game if they are getting countered.
