I honestly don’t know how many more QP matches I can take lately - even when I try using the wheel to mark the objective (“Take the objective”), I am getting so many teams that seem hellbent on fighting ANYWHERE BUT THERE. It’s just maddening to watch the team hover around the perimeter of the control point, while (most of the time) the enemy team is grouping or converging there constantly.
You can’t stay off the objective indefinitely fighting. You will LOSE.
Ok I just really had to vent after a handful of frustrating matches. I don’t get it - it’s not rocket science. You have to capture the objective to win…

They confuse QP with DM. I cant tell you how many times Ive kept the payload company while everyone else is duking it out on the other side of the map.

The objective doesn’t matter until you win the team fight with the exception of being the defending team on payload.
Not saying that most people get that concept either, but tunneling the objective when it doesn’t really matter is also a common problem.

Yep! Or they charge off and over-extend…all die…and the enemy team pushes the objective for the win.
Just had a game where we capped first point 'cuz they were too busy fighting to realize our DF was backcapping
Happens way more than it should.
True…although you can team-fight on the objective or get on it right after. What I’m seeing is the enemy team fights from within the border while my team flits around the outside in 1s and 2s…and if they get a kill, they don’t consolidate in they just wander around.
My curse often when I play Orisa and I’m trying to hold a point in a KOTH match. My team is off trying for flanks and stuff and I’m left trying to survive a 1v3 with zero back up of any kind.

This isn’t true. It’s all about point presence. If you have a balanced team and you’re fighting against a team that has 1 tank, 1 healer, and 4 DPS, they’re highly likely to back off the point if you kill their tank and healer because most DPS are allergic to objectives. I’ve taken the objective on lost fights because I either killed the best player, their tank, or their support.
I’ve also been on stupid DPS heavy teams that kill 4 and ignore the objective, only to give time for the tank and a support to get back and stall or roll them.

49% of the player base is below average, is it really shocking that noobs can only focus on getting kills and refuse to understand teamplay?

Well it depends on what the objective is, really. If it’s a payload on attack, then really only one or two people need to be on it at any given time. I never understand why my some healers I get insist on having everyone on the payload and allowing the enemy team to setup another defense. It’s just stupid.
However, I did get a few off games today where my teammates were just all over the place. I was playing Genji, but we might as well have had 6 Genjis because none of them were interested in playing their characters and insisted on playing like Genjis.
This just reminds me off all the days in Warsong Gulch, SCREAMING for people to stop fighting in the middle and actually GO GET THE STUPID FLAG.
My heart hurts.

Map advantage is more important at a higher SR than the objective for many of the maps or game modes. The problem at lower SR ranges is people don’t quite understand when/why one might leave vs stay just yet.
Low SR also over look the much higher risk your team will lose a 3vs1 fight vs a solo Lucio or whatever. Then there is also the issue of being on the obj too much. Like 3+ pushing payload or waiting on point in koth for a counter attack.
It’s all a lot more tricky than many seem to get.
Play of the game.
That’s it.
They want it.
They would rather the team lose than not get Play of the Game.

People are playing for different reasons. Some aren’t even playing to win within the games parameters. People are practicing, or have other goals in mind. Some even want to win but they think the way to do that is get medals.
All kinds of reasons.

Gold elims are more important. They show how good of a player you are.

I’m mostly talking about the matches with a control point that has to be held the longest (by sitting on it).
Depending on the healer, some can’t heal you at all if you’re 100 miles away from the payload and they’re stuck on it. Like Moira, for example.
There’s a balance. Objectives win games but you can’t just park your whole team on the objective and expect to win. Sometimes winning a team fight is more important than a few seconds of payload movement. Sometimes your comp is better at pushing up and defending a point aggressively rather than sitting on it and waiting for the enemy to set up how they want to try and take it. Sometimes people think other teammates are better suited to dealing with the objective. Sometimes people don’t think. In the end, you’re mostly likely not going to win unless you kill the enemy team.
