Why dont people combo ults anymore?

As title says. People just want to seem to fire their ult without any thought

Cause it better to bait out the suzu IMF, rez bubble grip petal and 100 different save abilities first.

Then use another one if needed than throw everything in a combo and see it negated by zuzu

Their immortality effects ya, I’m ok with cleanse and.lamp giving hp boost or something.

Hmm. Interesting. Are you talking about UR or a specific elo?

In my UR games I typically find people reflexively use their ults whenever they see others use theirs. Its like they hear all the cues and cant help themselves.

Its especially annoying when I know we have one last fight to decide the point/match.

But ah well. Its ggs in UR anyway, doesn’t really matter.

context is very important.

as an ana main, half the time I use nano is to save someone. why would I combo it when blade when the enemy has wasted resources trying to kill someone only for me to save it with nano? now they are down resources, the target is saved and the enemy most likely pushed to an unfavourable position in the attempt to secure the kill.

if its an ult like grav, theres no real need to combo. it basically all but secures the fight win. same with shatter.

and you need to consider the meta.
with the current one, there aren’t really many powerful combos. you’ve got kitsune hog, maybe kitsune cage if your mauga is bad but other than that, the ults available get their own value.

It’s easy to combo in unranked actually.

You can predict you tank ult and combo with it

Also in certain cases supports abilities are better combo than actual ult combos.

High noon of petal is better than high noon on grav or sigma ult and the resource used is less too.

when I play Kiri I try to time my Kitsune with reaper or Soldier ult, but they usually don’t wait for me or use it outside of the rush.

Agreed. I was really saying I have the opposite opinion of OP. Not like every lobby certainly, but like I said, people in UR tend to fling their ults so to speak when they see other ults get flung.

Yesterday we tried rush reaper ult with Kiri for slept hooked and killed.

Walked in shame from spawn after that :smile:

Yes, I’d say people do want to fire off their ult without any thought, at least in QP and metal ranks. Generally what people do in games is come up with a routine and if it doesn’t work, well, dang, I guess that’s it. Next time you’re in QP on the Lijang map with the bridges, keep on eye on your team and there’s every chance that they’ll try to take the bridge every time even against a boop comp. Or how like in online RTSs people would try a zerg rush and if I stuffed it, dang, the routine didn’t work. Time to DC.

I have some success getting Grav+Dragon going but with pretty much any other ult? Forgetaboutit. No QP Tracer is going to go for a Grav+Pulse, no Torb is going for a Grav+Ketchup. It’s simply not done in polite society.

Because people lack the ability to think in the game. Its mainly stupidity and not a big brain move.

yesterday I played against a Torb that kept putting lava on my rush strip. i was heated (pun not intended)

I managed to combo a grav with a tire last season.
I tabbed to see that our junkrat had tire.
And i used my ult ready line.

And i spammed the “my ultimate is ready” two or three times right before i actually used it. I was so glad when that tire got the teamkill.
Only using pings.
I’m just glad the junkrat had the gamesense to read what was happening.

There’s too many “press E to save everybody with no effort” abilities now.
Combo ults just aren’t effective anymore. It’s a game of baiting.

because wasting one ult on a suzu/immortality/grip/petal is better than wasting two

e.g nano rein, he hits a 4 man shatter oh what’s that kiriko throws her bell at the floor and cleanses it, everyone dissipates, gets out of hammer range and nobody is stunned anymore

because streamers said “don’t hold onto ur ultimate; use it instantly!1” and now it seems everyone follows this principle.

That and combos aren’t needed as much in a 5v5 setting since one ultimate has massive potential to wipe out a team rather than wasting 2 ultimates
