I am a believer that games are built on the Casual player base and absolutely there should be more love for those at the bottom. Ofc you need a mechanic that encourages players to stick with the game and improve but that doesn’t mean you ignore those at the lower end of the rank system.
Ok so I thought about this before and I would totally love “bronze challenger”
Now imagine if you get bronze at the end of a season and then play a ton to get up to like masters. Equip “bronze challenger” and watch as the team implodes.
It will bring more problems than solutions + you need to get at least some reasons to climb in rank, one of them (even if its useless as the spray on OW1) is the title
TBH, I hoped, that titles would get more value and would be deserved and rare. Now we get bunch of titles every BP - which makes those “hard earned titles” not stand out, since anyone can have title…
Which kinda kills the purpose of the titles in the first place…
maybe…but what that title actualy says about you? “the one, who got a lot of BP xp that one season” xD
I enjoy my “medic” title. I know it´s not that hard to earn, but that has something to tell people - “this person endured a lot of pain in that role to get this”.
True True. I wish they added ones you can get for being certain heros maybe. Like, play 500 matches with a certain hero and you get a title card that ties with the hero
Another casual way blizzard really only cares about the higher tier players. (Aside from balancing the whole game around professional level play).
They might consider it a bit of a participation trophy, but at the same time youre just repping what rank you are on your title, the higher you are the more bragging rights you have. So idk why they chose to not include ranks lower than diamond at all. Its a bit bit of a d*ck move by blizzard if ya ask me
