One of two abilities in the game that actually counters stealth, and all it takes is for her to take two steps left or right and its useless. And even if you do predict where she is and nail her perfectly with it, she just translocates and is invisible again.
It does if you hit her with it.
I remember it does detect you, but it doesn’t stop the stealth. Widow’s is a perm all map sight over its duration. Hanzo sonic arrow is a limited range sight. Big difference. Also, translocate from what I recall was a self-cleanse of sorts. Which means it drops most every attached effect.
You must use it to detect her so you can shoot her out of stealth.
It’s skill expression.
The game needs to do away with this trend overwatch is heading into where abilities do the work for you.
I actually managed to cleanse myself of a pulse bomb as a sombra by accident when i panic translocated away from my team XD
I wouldn’t mind if they changed it so that Sonic Arrow broke stealth instead of revealing Sombra, but at the same time, I think it’d be pretty pointless. Sombra would take one or two steps to the left as per usual, but now has to wait a couple of seconds to restealth. It wouldn’t even affect translocator at all. Seems like a non-change really.
I’d say allow turrets to fire back at a Sombra that tries to hack them again so that she needs assistance to deal with them. Let Torb’s turret do the grunt work of stuffing hacks so that no-one else has to faff around with ineffective and sometimes even counter-productive spychecks.
Because its an arrow?
Its like saying why does this paperball reveal Sombra in stealth.
Because it hit her?
Its invisability not a warp defining reality bending superpower.
That’s an advance old tech piece that’s already known.
It’s not a cleanse, its a minor invulnerability frame.
The transition to one point to another can prevent Sombra from getting damage and CCed. So you can avoid dying to such things like Deadeye, Dva Bomb, Rein slam. Etc.
But it is by far one of the hardest things to time.
This is actually a decent idea, sonic arrow doesnt do much and is available for short range.
And its one of the longest CDs in the game! Sombra can get off TWO TRANSLOCATES in the time a hanzo gets his CD back after one sonic arrow.
I love how translocate cleanses everything… It’s so fun to get jumped by an invisible Sombra that waits until there is a Genji going ape-poop in your face and knowing that if I dynamite her, it won’t do anything to her, so I have 2 seconds to land two scoped headshots on her from 3m away with her A-D spamming and shooting a spray gun in my general area that makes it even harder to see anything going on because it’s topped off with her hack and virus special effects filling up the whole screen. What a blast.
I wouldnt even care if Translocate actually had a long cooldown, and forced her out of the fight, but the second she uses it, she can reflank and engage immedietly, and it will be available to use again! Why does it have such a short CD? Makes no damn sense.
Among the many thing it is, it is also a cleanse. You can remove anti-nade, hack, burning, and any other effect with it. If you time it right, you can even remove sleep, stun, and knockdown effects.
Why would a sonic arrow disable her stealth? It’s not an EMP (actually, does an enemy Sombra EMP disable her stealth?) it’s just a sonar device. It does its job, it reveals to you all the things you can’t normally see.
Because its literally the only tool outside of an ult, and actually requires skill to use, that disables stealth. Why WOULDN’T IT disable the most broken ability in the game, thats on a 5 second cooldown?
Because Stealth is only strong if you’re oblivious lol. Sure, she can move around the map without your knowledge, but she has to uncloak to actually attack you. If you’re not prepared for a Sombra to pop up on your backline, kind of on you.
And I say that as an Ana player.
Should run next to a teammate then translocate.
This isnt the “gotchya!” point you think it is. It gives her 100% ofthe power 100% of the time. Its not a weakness. A character simply existing shouldnt dictate how to play a game, even before you know that character is IN THE FREAKING GAME.
It literally is. Flankers exist. Either be ready for them or don’t, your choice. Stealth isn’t stopping game play, it isn’t unbeatable. In fact, do you know how many times I’ve accidentally killed a cloaked Sombra? She is 100% still vulnerable to damage, that has not changed.
Name a single flanker you cant hear or see coming, thats not Sombra. Ill wait.
Again, this isnt the flex you THINK it is…
