Have any German voice lines? Ult is all in English as well. Is it because Mercy?
I personaly wish i could turn off other languages than english, i prefere one language i kind of get, over screaming in those i dont get anything.
The voice actor doesnât speak german or does so with a noticeable accent.
Doesnât bother me that much, maybe because I work with a german who prefers English. Barely has a german accent, unless heâs drunk, then he sounds very german.
Yeah, as someone who only speaks English, I prefer to understand what it being said. We are a rare breed.
That is somehow the most german thing ever.
Heâs really funny drunk, goes into tangents, and slips into pure german speaking, confusing everyone except me and his boyfriend.
The main reason is that the VA isnât german, I believe.
Some characters have bilingual VAs, and in those cases there are usually lines in both English and whatever other language that hero can speak.
Itâs just all the other characters speak what are they supposed to based on their story/lore. Excluding Hanzo (ult is in Japanese tho) and Prahah (doesnât speak Arabic like Ana). And some others but im too lazy to look for those
Miora has Irish voice lines, but no Irish ult.
Voice actors do lines in languages they donât understand all the time. Opera singers sometimes learn whole songs in languages they canât speak. I donât think that need be a barrier even if it is the actual reason.
She does have her ult in Irish if shes the enemy. âGĂ©ill do mo thoil!â
I mean, i speak one more language, english is not primary one, but this one is not even in the game unless i set dub for it and im fine with it.
My mistake. Rarely go against a moira to hear it. (Doesnât help that I play with mute on sometimes.)
His âBIER!â (Beer) sounds german enough. Thatâs all whatâs matter!

I personally get tired of this need for a voice actor/actress to be the same ethic/nationality to their character. If they do an awesome job then thatâs all that really matters.
I think his VA doesnât know German, like at all.
Hanzoâs English VA also doesnât know Japanese, so his ult line is mispronounced from what I heard?
The English voice actor is not german and canât speak a single word germany as far as I know. That is why I prefer the german voice actor.
I speak Japanese as well as English. I donât care, I still wish most of the non-English voice lines would be removed.
The ults I donât mind, they add flavor, and are fundamentally a game cue not conveying any information. If you really want to know the meaning, you can look them up.
The rest of the lines though⊠if people canât understand them, they have no point. Even though I can understand them, other people generally canât, so I wouldnât use any of the Japanese voice-lines except maybe âmadamadaâ and âomae wa mou shindeiruâ⊠which might be memed enough to be âwell knownâ foreign phrases now.
Similarly the vast majority of other non-English voice lines are useless and meaningless⊠maybe, what, âSlainteâ (Irish Gaelic for âcheersâ), âCâest La Vieâ (French for âThatâs lifeâ) are famous enough. There are a bunch of other well-known foreign phrases that I donât know if theyâre in the game, e.g. âque sera seraâ, âmi casa su casaâ, âIch bin ein Berlinerâ (well, thatâs a grammar error and shouldnât be spoken by a native character anyway)âŠ
Well, you get the idea. The point is if itâs incomprehensible to 99% of players, itâs a pointless waste of a line slot. Not all North Americans speak any second language, when they do itâs almost always French or Spanish, so all those Swedish, Gaelic, etc., lines are just wasted ⊠and even the French and Spanish ones are mostly wasted.
I donât remember which ones specifically, but there were in the past a bunch of voice lines Iâve happily equipped only to realize they werenât in English. I never get my hopes up anymore. If it looks like a good line, I assume itâs either translated or a paraphrasing of a much longer and worse line⊠or both.
Iâm pretty sure the correct answer is because heâs an American voice actor putting on a cartoony German accent. I believe most if not all of the non-English lines are spoken by voice actors who are authentic native speakers and so could easily do the lines without even the need for hiring a separate translator.
Look like itâs the same problem with Hanzo va. Tho I too wish Hanzo have more Japanese lines.
I actually like the different languages lines in the game. It make the game sounds more interesting and I get to learn new words and saying ![]()
Also Iâm pretty sure most non-english voiceline in the store have the translation as their name no?
