It’s a learning curve for sure, but it just takes a little practice.
The language is somewhat “throaty” (unsure if that’s a proper description), I will say that. It uses that back and upper part of the mouth/throat for those things. I studied it for a while, and I eventually got it. My greatest issue is the grammar format.
I wouldn’t know where to begin with Japanese, so, yep lol.

Well if you need help with german grammar let me know, because I actually am a native german speaker. So it is hard to tell for me what others have problems with by speaking german. I can just say what mistakes I’ve heard so far by most people speaking german who are not native. Which is the ‘r’ and ‘ch’, followed by the ‘w’.
When it comes to grammar I often hear people using the wrong form of ‘der’, ‘die’ and ‘das’. Which is understandable considering how many words you have to learn with the right der/die oder das.
So for me speaking english my biggest problem are the time forms. It is hard to tell when to use ‘have been’ and so on.
Interesting. I think that’s something that native English speakers take for granted? English is very… unspecific. It feels unfinished compared to other languages. It’s contextual based and you just have to ‘know’ it. It doesn’t have the cases.
I’ve seen people have issues with those too. I’d say my pronunciation is pretty good. The “ch” was definitely the weirdest to learn. I understand that it has two different sounds, depending on vowels.
The suffix “-ig” I didn’t get for a while, then I did (such as in “fertig”). And there’s a few other’s. But again, practice and hearing it helped a lot.
I do get them mixed up sometimes. I tried learning new words with the appropriate male, female, neuter. It seemed to make it easier. I don’t have issues with Nominative, or Accusative. It’s Dative and Genitive that bother me.
My main issue is with verbs, and where they are placed in sentences. And negations like “nicht”. Sometimes it’s in the middle of a sentence, sometimes it’s at the end.
There’s a lot of strange things to me when concerning more complex sentences. When it starts venturing into Dative, and Genitive, etc, I begin to make mistakes.
Such as when “Der” starts becoming Den, or Des, or Dem.
I’m writing a way too long response. Anyway, German is fun to me. I only know one person in real life whom I can even speak it with. He’s a German native also, and he’s working on his English. Literal English he’s great at, but understanding context, slang, and sarcasm, will confuse him.
Tell that to Torb who doesn’t have a single Swedish line, but luckily Brig makes up for it with plenty. The reason is because as many have stated they didn’t want to do it if they weren’t comfortable getting it right, and after hearing how many Americans prounounce Swedish words I’m kind of glad they didn’t. I do wish they had done a better job on the accent though.

Japanese and Spanish are similar in formatting their sentences, and Yoda’s speach pattern takes direct inspiration from Japanese sentence structure.

Yes I think this is the reason why I have difficulties learning it, even though I am reading a lot of english stories online. I am using the time forms how it feels right, but I do quite a lot of mistakes. We have like general rules how to use them, but it is often hard to tell.
I agree that practice and hearing are very important parts of the learning process when it comes to languages. My english was actually pretty bad when I was still in school. Then I have started playing multiplayer and all of a sudden I started to learn english for real. I would not have been able to understand much of what is said in movies and books if I hadn’t started gaming.
And let me tell you something: Even germans have difficulties with Dativ and Genitiv. There is even a saying: “Der Dativ ist dem Genitiv sein Tod” which is terrible german but sadly used by a few people who don’t know how stupid that makes them look.
I am working on those problems with slang, context and sarcasm aswell, but I think I have learned quite a lot already. Still, there is always something new.

The va’s of Hanzo, Torb, Rein, and Pharah don’t actually speak the language of the country their characters are supposed to be representing lol.
At least Lucio’s va actually went through the effort of learning Brazilian lines. Props to him
Well, English is the universal language these days… but a few native language lines would be nice…
Hanzo’s voice actor doesn’t really speak Japanese, I think I read somewhere that it took a REALLY long time for him to get the ult line pronunciation down.
