Most Mercy players bring absolutely nothing to the table, especially when it turns into a TDM and you are effectively 5v4 and getting stomped while mercy tries to heal vs incoming damage and failing.
Would love it if they gave her some sort of damage to force players into dealing some now and and again or just remove her completely.
there are a lot of games that all of that healing is wasted because they start back pedalling when theyre getting hit, and they turn their attack off. those players fustrate me. im healing, attack them dangit.
if i were to change mercy i would give her a limited bubble that she can apply to other players, kind of like the priest from world of warcraft. healing by itself isn’t always sufficient, sometimes they need a limited barrier to escape.
Played 50 hours in overwatch 2 in current meta, I played overwatch one for a few hours and didn’t like the 6v6 it wasn’t anything like this so surely have enough time logged to understand the game.
Okay, hear me out… What if we make Mercy’s Rez an Ultimate again BUT she can only Rez 1 person and they are immune to dmg and we replace her rez ability with a deployable barrier but it’s not place able like she shoots it at a teammate and it last for like 2 seconds than goes away but during that time the person could have gotten out of danger!
They should really change her Rez back on ultimate and valk on cooldown. Pulling of a rez is guaranteed that someone on your team is gonna die because it takes so long to pull off the rez
The simplest counter Mercy brings is she is the last bastion to counter 1shots in the entire game. Oh, you can try to dive counters and take the long range snipes, but she gives the second chance when a person dies to long range play. It takes a rather high level player to get multiple kills back to back (or incredibly predictable teammates) meaning you can keep momentum in a fight for any long range kill.
She’s incredibly evasive you play the right maps meaning you can effectively be live bait try not to die and do your job of keeping people up. Resurrection is incredibly dumb for reverting a bunch of wouldbe momentum shifters that try to tip the scales.
Oh, that genji that suicided trying to KO your support? Rez them and undo the solo blade against them. She does enough damage compared to many support players when you think about it. When you combine her damage boost value and regular blaster play she tends to get enough offensive material to tip some kills from safety.
Her evasion is high enough to be played into a very dive heavy team because dive heavy teams tend to have one mobility move to get their mobility and waste it chasing high vertical platforms. Along with short range and projectile users which means its harder to aim at mercy in the air. Winston, Tracer, Genji on a map liek Gibraltar you can evade for a very long time. She even excels into some team death match like matches because she can more easily keep up with the chaos than slow moving or short range supports.
She’s powerful enough to make top 500 on several people, but there are more busted supports potentially to play.
Even just give a Moira type attack instead of buffing team mate, I dunno anything to help when the team needs to fight to win and healing isn’t working.
She’s an enabler for burst characters.
Widowmaker,Hanzo,Zen,Pharah,Junkrat - all are heroes that earn from Widowmaker.
Mercy’s damage boost doesn’t provide extra damage for the team considering it’s only +30%… But it does make certain attacks more bursty. For example Junkrat normally deals 120 damage per shot which is a lot.
Add a damage boost and now he deals 156 damage per second. Enough to one shot Tracer and kill heroes that got hit once by most things…
That’s also why her Rez is there, considering most bursty heroes are long range and/or can hide behind wall because bursty usually means slower fire rate (They also tend to have bigger heads/bodies).
So if your bursty hero dies, you can safely rez behind a wall.
Guardian angel is also effective reaching widow or Pharah considering they are not always next to the team.

Because the Mercy community is overall toxic and entitled and will have a meltdown if the devs change her in any way.
She’s a problematic hero. Can go from being useless (I spawncamped enemy mercy 10 times in a row yesterday on a push map and they didn’t even bother switching) to breaking certain DPS heroes and making them feel oppressive (soldier and ashe in the past, oh and making pharmercy a thing so you can’t play half the heroes if you want to actually win)
I still feel like her ulting and making someone an immortal god for awhile might be the way but honestly it’s pretty close to nano boost… if anything what if she could revive herself?
Like what if her rez ability automatically pops and consumes itself reviving her if she dies and than goes on cooldown.
No thank you. I’d much rather damage boost my team than try to juggle damaging the enemy while also healing. That’s the appeal of mercy for me. Lucio is the only competitor imo, as he can speed boost his team while he’s not healing. Forcing Mercy to interact with the enemy just for the sake of dealing damage goes against her core playstyle, which is mostly evasive. Also, if her core playstyle evolves in a way that involves dealing damage, she would need major nerfs. Imagine trying to kill Mercy while she can fly almost anywhere she wants, jump almost as high as she wants, and now on top of all that she can actually kill you? Again, no thanks. That sounds like Hell to play against.
