Why Does The Forum Hate People Who Like This Game?

Hey, I don’t play anymore and replaced it with other games. Their refusal to see reason only hurts themselves + the people who still play.

But I can come here and comment on how sad it is that they’ve tanked a billion-dollar franchise.

You contradicted yourself. 7 months and counting means nothing considering it took them years to reinstate classic. Let’s hope they learn from that mistake and it takes them half or 1/4 the amount of time.

Then nothing? Because I have other games to play. Let’s be real here. Even if Blizzard goes back to OW1, I doubt I’ll be as invested as I was years ago. That bridge is burned.

They only made 100 mil the first three months and I enjoy the game so it isnt hurting me.

Btw, I just spent my coins on the BP so I can get that Sigma mythic.

Nearly their entire post history is ranting about OW2 haters. I’m really hoping this guy is a troll cause I don’t know how terminally online someone must be to care so much about the opinions of a forum.

I don’t know, why are people on the forum who don’t like the game just “crybabies”??

Sure is neat when people act like its a one way street

Gone? yes

Never coming back? It will come back when and if Blizzard decides that it will come back, no matter how many forum members declare it cant or wont

There is no forum member who can legitimately state that it will never come back because they arent in the position to make such decisions

actually, the game being called OW2 has many many many problems, and these have been pointed out in many threads by many forum members.

if one wishes to ignore those problems or act as if they don’t exist, that is a forum member’s right to do, but it doesnt mean those problems dont exist

For many, the single biggest problem is the monetization model. For me personally, it is the fact that the game is pay to win, which is a very very bad thing for any game with a competitive element

The game made 100 mil in just its first 3 months and they do not store old patches as “back ups”.

Just cause you guys do not want to accept facts does not mean that these facts do not exist.

I realize that you have heard a dev state that they do not keep backups

There is no legit software company that fails to keep backups,

in fact, multiple backups. usually several times a day

I ask that the personal attacks cease

Theres this thing all humans share which is called intuition, let me tell you that its never wrong and i mean never! the facts that you wrote this up is because of how frequent this topic floods the forums. its not because these people who think like this are sociopaths, its because they all feel the same way. I’d say the real sociopath is the one who felt like writing out such a lengthy PSA about something that matters very little to them.

Enjoying OW 2 is fine. People just hate shills, like people who shut down those of us who have valid disagreements with the way OW is being handled this go around and the passive aggressiveness you’re displaying here for example. No offense

I like Overwatch 2 and even I have to admit it’s monetization system is awful and it lacks the soul of the original. I don’t respect any fanbase who don’t hold their perspective media accountable

this is the previous lead game designer talking about the “release” ow not the one that existed 7 months ago. “Classic” OW would be 6 years old. That of course would be expensive to re-create not to mention most release day players left long ago. Overall a disingenuous take

I am going to use the same logic:

No game company in their right mind is going to take a product they developed for years that they just made 100 million dollars off of in a single quarter and then turn around and go “we screwed up guys”, scrap the whole thing, and overhaul the entire game again.

actually, these are not in any way shape or form equivalent statements, despite the apparent intent here that this be so

first, re-releasing OW1 is not an admission of screwing up. it would be an additional revenue stream for Blizzard. For profit companies are always seekign out additional revenue streams

second, the decision to keep backups is a 100% given. it isnt something a software company debates or discusses…quite simply, it is an operational necessity in the software business. On the other hand, the decision to put out a new product (or re-release an old one) is a debated decision…an option, not a necessity

third, ow1 was making plenty of money, yet they made the decision to shut it down. This decision is at odds with your claim in the second paragraph above. Said another way: yes, they can, and yes, they did.

so no, the above is not “the same logic” at all

Incredibly doubtful. Even if that was the case it would cement Blizzard as being on of the biggest hack developers in the industry for not backing up their older patches. You are a rube for believing it.

There’s a lot of overly dramatic takes from both sides. It seems like most people here either act like it’s the best game ever or the worst game ever. In reality it’s just an average game right now and most of us only play out of habit and lack of other good MP FPS on the market. It peaked during its first 2 years and has felt stagnant and uninspired since.

Not if it canabalizes their existing game for a game that btw gave out most everything for free.

See, this is another thing that separates me from most people here:

I am personally amazed that they gave away all this content they prolly put a ton of work into for basically for free for years.

Throughout the entire lifespan of OW 1 all I paid for was 30 bucks for a used copy and a Lucio DJ emote for 10 dollars for 1200 hours!

I’ve still spent about as much on OW 2 as I just spend on Dead Island 2 that was only fun for a single weekend.

Dollar (or cents) per hour of entertainment its by far the cheapest thing I’ve ever bought and most of it I could of gotten away with not buying. It’s just I like the developers and want to support it so it keeps going even though half prolly ends up in Bobby’s pockets.

I do not expect to get things for free and all the free stuff they gave me over the years from OW 1 which I still have tons of I appreciate unlike some people who just think it’s their right to get all that for free like they did for a really long time.

I have no ide what you mean by “cannibalize” here, but ultimately it is a business decision as to whether game x would make more money by itself or if game x plus game y would make more money as a pair

Given that a large number of players have expressed a preference for OW1, I would think profits would be maximized by offering two games instead of 1

also, much in OW1 wasnt free, or rather cost money - lots of merch, lootbox packages, the cost of the game itself, xbox subscripts, etc etc etc

wasnt free, actually…already covered this above

You have no evidence that is true.

You are basing that on opinions online. On this forum, not just me, but a whole bunch of people get mass flagged for posting anything positive about Overwatch 2.

People being negative about OW 2 get to be as aggressive as they want saying the game is trash and outright calling the devs trash giving no constructive criticism. They aren’t banned though.

We are unless we walk on eggshells.

You just assume what happens here is a represenative sample of the overall population when it isn’t.

Here’s another fact:

The first quarter of OW 2 had more hours played than any quarter in Overwatch’s ENTIRE history as a game.

The only fact you have that everyone hates OW 2 is ancedotal evidence and that is it mostly based on a place that silences opinion that goes against its own group think.

actually, I do

there have been hundreds if not thousands of statements on this forum and on other internet discussion media where folks have clearly and unambiguously declared their preference for OW1 over the pay to win game being called Ow2

actually, flagging is invisible except in the case of one’s own flags, so there is no evidence to support any claims of mass flagging

not at all

there are forum rules that apply equally to all forum members regardless of whether one likes the pay to win game being called OW2 or does not like it

actually, there are rules about attacking Blizzard staff, and yes, many folks have been banned over violating said rules

kinda hard to believe when the game wasnt even functional for the first 2 to 3 weeks

that said, feel free to cite your source, as otherwise, this is simply an unsupported claim

not at all

if forum member x says they prefer OW1 over OW2, I have no reason to not believe them

and hundreds if not thousands have made that statement

It’s because a lot of people who go to the forums (like me) do so when they’re feeling dishearted about the game (like me) after having really really really horrendous experiences with some aspect of the game (like me :C )

Don’t take it personal if somebody complains about the game though.

However, saying things like “there’s no point to arguing OW1 vs OW2” is kind of antagonistic in the first place. Telling people their feelings are useless or pointless is just begging to upset them. Actually, a lot of the tone of the opening post is just as hostile as the ones who are against OW2.

Look at this blizzard shill cope

OW2 is FREE TO PLAY, with a NEW HERO DROPPED, and is at 21k viewers on Twitch on a WEEKEND.

Apex Legends did not add a new hero, and is at 131k.
Valorant did not add a new hero, and is at 210k.

OW1 without new content drops, without being F2P, in maintenance mode, used to average around 18k.

NO CONTENT, NOT F2P, and it averaged around the same viewership on Twitch.
But yes, the game is a “massive success” that’s why there’s plats in GM games. LOL

Btw, OW1 used to average way more viewers and was way more popular up until they added Role Queue. As a PAID GAME.

OW2 is trash the only reason it hasn’t exploded is because Timmy can play it for free. COPE

I promise you if OW1 went free to play and added heroes it would be more successful than OW2 by a mile.
