Why does Shatter go OVER the payload?

He shatters the ground.

The ground.

The ground.

Why does it go OVER the payload?!!!

It’s not a nerf if it’s a change that makes sense.

edit: okay fine, but at least change the particles so the hitbox makes sense.

Most payloads levitate too.

The same reason Mei’s blizzard is a snow globe instead of a sheet falling from the sky.

Well then everyone can just stand on the payload and be immune to it

Pretty sure it goes under it, not over. It also has some height so at the lower points of a payload you’re not high enough to dodge it

Why shouldn’t this be a viable means of avoiding it?

Because payloads are already a godsend as far as covers go.

Says this as I’m shooting at their feet.

Well you’re wrong. It absolutely goes over as well. And under. And around it.

It goes under. But it’s not flat, it’s like a think slice of pie. It has some height to it.

It’s weird because it doesn’t go over every payload perfectly and also can’t be blocked sometimes when atop of the payload.

No, he’s not.

Shatter absolutely travels under the payload, it just has a height limit you must clear to be unaffected. Semantics yes, but still true.

It works like that because jumping shouldn’t counter an Ult.

I was a fellow overwatcher like you. Then I got a bullet in the knee.

The same way you get shattered as Mercy when you’re literally not even on the ground. Shatter is super weird in practice, and then has a boatload of bugginess on top of it.

Exactly. Everyone standing on the payload to avoid shatter sounds like they are just out playing the rein.

Also reins kit has been one of the buggiest since launch and I’m convinced they just don’t have the ability to fix it or the code is a mess and hopefully is being fixed for OW2.

Can you imagine how disappointing it will be if many of the same bugs still exist in the expac after they are ignoring the whole base game to put together the sequel.

It goes over it. I can be standing on it and get shattered anyway.

Why would anyone assume differently when history has largely shown otherwise, both in the company and in the industry as a whole.

I’ve been on top of a car or payload and been hit by shatter so many times. Being off the ground only seems to count if you’re jumping, and even then I’ve been clipped by it because registration seems to favor hitting you with shatter over not even if you escaped in time.

It used to be stopped by any type of elevation. Even small curbs and steps. This made the ult incredibly uncertain to use and often did not travel across the ground where it should have done.

So now the ult also covers a bit above the ground as well, so if a Pharah uses her jets, she can still get caught if shes not high enough in time. While annoying, it is a massive improvement. Rines ult has been one of the buggest things in OW.
