Why does OW aiming feel strange compared to other games?

Get really into Splitgate recently. Headshots in games like splitgate or tf2 just rile off the fingers. OW for some reason feels like there is a weight on my cursor regardless of the sensitivity settings. What’s up with that?

Off topic but did the Splitgate ques got better recently? I want to try out that game

Yeah, for some reason headshots feel random even with your aim. And if someone is flicking its even harder to see how someone made a headshot.

Idk when you last played, but pretty recently they added crossplay. At least with quickplay, I get matches very quickly. Haven’t tried comp yet tho.

Sounds to me like a input lag or latency issue…
Ow is the game i play if i want a smooth experience

Possibly, although that would be more a game issue. 144hz display at 144hz natively with nvidia reflex ought to smooth out latency one would think.

In Overwatch, there is an artificial delay that is added for everyone and it’s bigger than for other competitive games. The server calculates how far you missed and calculates the damage scale.

The player positions usually do not correspond at all with the place from which a shot originates. It is very inaccurate and largely based on predictions.

Similar to matchmaking, an over-engineered system has been developed to help an otherwise disadvantaged group of people.

OWL and tournament servers are configured differently in this regard, as it would be quite embarrassing to pull something like this off in front of a large crowd.

So if you think that shooting doesn’t feel as responsive and accurate as it does in other games, that’s because this is actually the case.

Wow, if this is accurate, that is quite depressing :frowning:

It’s that players have zero momentum and can change direction instantly.

Overwatch does feel weird, especially when you play other shooter (apex, valorant in my case) and come back to it. It just doesn’t feel right and not as smooth.

I use the same EDPI in every game.

I played Apex… the aim feels exactly the same.

The difference is in your own movement acceleration in both those other games exist, in OW its instant.

I’d look into tweaks to reduce your input lag.

Also I imagine OW2 should get some modern videocard features added.

Poor programming. More evidence that the game hasn’t been designed to be competitive.

Vsync? It kills input response times

The game is laggy even without vsync.

There is even an option to reduce buffering but it is buggy since it was first released.

In my experience with splitgate, I think it’s because the heads are massive, and movement is predictable, so
