Haha guys look at this noone wants to play this sh*tty role that must be a bug haha there is no way that people dont want to play a stun simulator and get put in games 500 SR above or below their level, right? People love to have the highest health pool in the game but get killed in less than a second right? People love to get hardcountered by heroes who basically dont require any skill and make you useless right? People LOVED powercreep, thats why we were pushing for it from day one and are still pushing for it. If you as a dev team manage to make Ana, one of the best designed heroes in the game, the most tilting hero to play against because the tank role is hot garbage, maybe change the game. Its actually tilting how blatantly the team ignores tanks its just sad at this point. Tank has easily the most well rounded and best designed heroes in the game (Reinhardt, DVA, Winston and Ball (ball is subjective I guess)) and you still manage to make the role unfun, I have to take a pause from this trashcan game after every comp game because its so tilting.
Because tanks dont feel like tanks they are basically walking ult batteries.
They constantly get nerfed to make dps players happy.
I otp ball I played a game as Rein after my team cried about my pick , spent the entire game hacked , discorded and focused down was so much fun
Dude I understand how you fell, I felt the same few months ago. I would highly recommend to give Paladins a try. Tanks are actually fun to play, and some of them feel like mini-bosses which is awesome.
Because no one wants to be forced into orisa and brig echo and Ashe roll u
i find the role of tank to be daunting and unrewarding due to the game’s terrible balance of heroes especially because its all made to cater to dps
It’s the most dependent role in the game. When your team is decent and allows you to play aggressive, it’s the most fun role ever. But when your team isn’t good? Oh god. You die first and get completely wrecked on by the enemy main tank. You can’t drop shield because otherwise you’ll get melted and you have to play passive. Your tank partner goes Hog and flanks 80% of the time. And on and on. There’s a reason why pro tank mains love playing their role in OWL. The team is decent, you got communication and you get to control the pace of the fights.
i get what youre saying but you cant compare the general playerbase to owl players. the general playerbase is disorderly on a regular bases
I’ve also pointed out that Moira is pretty easy to get a lot of value for a bad or new player. Her ease of use is pretty much universal among ranks. And I’ve got loads of experience on the subject due to being once a Moira main myself.
Anyways, what pro players want is to make Moira more skillful to play. She should get less value for bad players, but more for good players, which is something that benefits everyone in my book
That is kinda the point though. Tanks are amazing and the strongest role in the game, when you have a decent team following up and supporting you, mostly because you can control the battlefield and make the best engagements possible happen. But at the same time, if your team underperforms it’s the role most left out to dry. At least with damage or supports you can go flank your brains out and enjoy that.
Off tanks ROLLLLL most of the DPS roster. Any buffs to them and they’d be seriously oppressive. I say this as an off tank/dps main.
- Most difficult role to play (imo)
- highest stress
- YOU have to be the one to block the enemy ultimates.
- CC is aimed for you
- soloq healers are not trustworthy
Yeah I was on and off between paladins and OW. Tbh the only thing that OW actually had on its concurrents was the “blizzard polish”. But now with heroes like ball and doom who are basically built on bug and glitchabusing and reinhardt charge still being completely random, I feel like its just miles behind the other games.
I’ve tried learning paladins but every time I’ve tried the heroes there feel much less easy to learn. Like when you go into the training ground with any OW hero, even a new hero can be at least somewhat intuitive on how they work and what the abilities do. With all the different builds for each hero in paladins it’s harder to learn multiple or even one hero, both in terms of function but strengths and weaknesses.
Even smite and league (and paragon rip) felt more intuitive when it came to learning heroes at first glance
Yeah you are right, it’s not that polish, OW feels so much better to play in general, BUT the gameplay is so much more fun and everyone can carry and it’s not that team dependent. ( maybe even less toxic but I am just lvl 40 or something so I can’t say this with certainty)
The deciding factor for me was that Tanks ( as a main tank player) are really fun to play, you are not gonna get melted in 1 sec ( if you don’t screw up horrifically). It’s much more forgiving to play Paladins and TKK is quite good.
Also, you can have several loadouts and Items so if you know what to do you can actually adjust your playstyle during match accordingly so you have better chance of winning
Yeah and that’s what appealing to me… After 4.5 years in OW, it’s nice to learn new things, actually see the day to day improvements.
Sometimes it’s annoying because you dive into champions you never played against, and get melted. But then you realize ok this character has this strength, but what if I approach differently, and you just try and fail. At the end after every match I learned something and that’s great.
Maybe if I would play it for x years I wouldn’t have this view on Paladins but right now I am having blast, something I had in OW like 3,5 years ago.
Why should I play tank so other people can play DPS? no way.
I feel like you just wrote this after a bad Tank game lol.
I agree Tank can be frustrating at times, but so is support or DPS.
I personally love playing tank. It has its ups and its downs but if you really understand the role, you wouldn’t be writing this.
^ Keyword being forgiving. Playing tank in OW is not easy and certainly not forgiving. I’ve lost entire games because I made 1 mistake. But it’s not so bad. If you want to climb you have to git gud.
Not everyone likes to tryhard to win and that’s ok.
I agree with all of this lol. I usually play some games of support befoore/after playing tank so I can relax and enjoy not being pressured at the front 24/7.
